HELP! After xbox fomated my external hardrive. My pc wont detect my harddrive anymore??

Microsoft is being so dumb and annoying. I cant even put movies on my harddrive and play them on my xbox. How do i get my harddrive back? Becuase after xbox fomating my computer makes the sound like i pluged it in but wont pop up under my computer!!

what i did to fix it was got an external hardrive put all of my staff on my xbox harddrive and put it on the external

and i formatted the xbox hardrive

then i run the update and it worked

 

system media player wont detect usb disks/hdd

after update my xbox one wont detect any usb flash drives ir external hdd.i use them for only movies.it wont detect my flash drive 16g usb2.0,wont detect my usb 3.0 1t hdd or my 1t usb 2.0 hdd..

my computer and tv will detect them fine...did update messed up media player??

 

You will need to reformat on your computer to use it on the computer, when you have done that you cannot use it on your xbox one until you format it again with your console, at the moment you cannot put movies on the HDD from your computer to play on your
console.

 

This happening to me to. What he means is it doesn't come up on the computer. It doesn't show up at all! It only shows up on my computer! It did this as soopn as I formatted it on my xbox one... Im starting to get *** of because this is ridicules. I bet
Microsoft did this on purpose!

 

No solution yet??? Microsoft where is the customer support?? I haven't seen this addresses for the past 4 months

Apologies for the lack of a response here.

To help diagnose this, could you please post back with the make and model of your hard-drive?

 

Actually we don't need to know your hard drive's make.

When you attach an external hard drive to the Xbox One and choose to format it for use with the console, the system changes the formatting of the drive to the one that the console uses. Once this is done, your PC will not recognise the drive for data storage,
but it should know that it is attached.

To enable you to use the drive again on your PC, it must be re-configured. To do this you need to load the 'Disk Management' tool. If you're running Windows 8 the quickest way you can access the Disk Manager is by Holding down the Windows Key and pressing
X then selecting 'Disk Management' from there. In Windows 8.1 you can right click on the START button and select it.

To quickest way to access Disk Management on Vista and Windows 7 is via the Run program on the Start Button and typing in diskmgmt.msc and pressing Enter or the OK button.

If your hard drive is in working order, it will be detected in Disk Management and you will be prompted to 'Initialise the device'. This will then make the drive available in Windows, but it will be formatted again only Windows use.

At present it isn't possible to use an external hard drive for Xbox One and PC use, it has to be one or the other.

This video should help, I did the same thing and it worked, I'm using windows 10 so you'll have to search for control panel. with that said it's the same for Windows 7/8/and 10

 

1. Type Control Panel in the search box.
2. Click Control Panel.
3. Click Administrative Tools.
4. Click Computer Management.
5. Click Disk Management.
6. Right-click on the drive or partition to format and click on Format.
7. Select the file system and set the cluster size.
