HELP! 320GB hard drive not formatting.

So a long time ago I bought a 320GB hard drive for my Xbox 360 slim, and every now and then when I turn my Xbox on and check my storage and it says that my hard drive is not formatted, so what I usually do Is turn my system off then on again and that usually
fixes it but now it does not work anymore. So I did research and a lot of people said the only other option is to format my hard drive, so I did format it, and when it putts me back on the screen where it displays all your storage devices it still says my
hard drive is not formatted! Can anyone help..... please?

320GB HDD Not Recognized After Formatting from PC

Problem: 320GB HDD (not built by Microsoft, but imitated) is not recognizable in my Xbox 360. Initially, it stayed unformatted even though I have formatted it through the Xbox itself.

Item: 320GB HDD bought from Amazon made by a third party.

Background: When the hard drive arrived, I inserted it in my Xbox for game use. It was working fine in the beginning aside from the Xbox Dashboard running more slowly than when I use the official Microsoft hard drive. When I was moving my game files around,
the 320GB hard drive suddenly becomes "Unformatted." I tried formatting it from the Xbox, but it refuses to. I entered the correct Serial Number, it goes to the progress bar, then back to storage screen as if I didn't format it at all. I tried to format
it several times and unplugging/replugging it. Not working.

My second attempt is formatting it from the PC. There, I tried several methods of formatting then tried it on the Xbox. Some methods did nothing where the hard drive stays Unformatted. Since my last attempt to create partitions of 32GB within Disk Management,
the hard drive was not visible in the Xbox at all--even after I deleted all the partitions and refreshed my hard drive as if I started on my first attempt. My Xbox no longer sees my 320GB hard drive.

I've spent several days researching and trying to solve this issue on my own, but I am at a loss. Is there any way to salvage my hard drive to use on the Xbox? Or would this be considered a hard drive failure where I would have to buy another expensive
hard drive?

 

If it's not an official hard drive for the 360 you'll have compatibility issues with it. If that's the case you need to find a way to flash the firmware and start from scratch. (Note flashing the drive will void warranty on the drive, and replacing a hard
drive with a none official drive voids console warranty.)

If it is an official drive try to connect it to another Xbox and reformat it on a different console. If that doesn't work you should call Microsoft support and get their help.

Could be the connector on the hard drive. Try unplugging it and reinserting it into your console. If it is still coming up as unformatted it is probably faulty or the port that you plug the connector into the console is faulty. If you could maybe get another
or borrow a friends Just to see if your hard drive is at fault or if it is your console.
