Hello new forums

I've posted complete nonsense to reach a level 8 previously.

Post count systems are just that, an indicator of how often you post. They don't have anything to do with how good a poster you are.

 

I would have tagged my previous post / sarcasm, but tags are gone...

 

I guessed the sarcasm. I just hate post count systems.

Never seen one that did anything positive for the community it was on.

 

CUL is just a number to me, but it's nice to have a bigger number than a smaller number with regards to CUL.

 

At the last forum change the CUL was messed up. The fuss kicked up by some members who saw a drop (since moderator changes were almost completely wiped out) was incredible, you would have thought that they'd lost a leg rather than dropping a couple of numbers.

Genuinely felt sorry for aka Scratch who took on the task of 'fixing' the issue.

It's as I said though. CUL does nothing for the community, no matter whom treats it with sarcasm and scorn.

What they need to do is get rid of it and have more active community moderators (volunteers and paid staff) who could police a more robust badge system.

 

My CUL went up after the previous update, I can only assume my 2 CUL drops for standing up to a moderator were reversed, or perhaps I just posted more than usual, I like to think the first reason is the real reason, but the latter is probably true...

 

I don`t think Scratch is a moderator any more, probably knew what was coming this time.

I have been level 5 for years and post most days,means nothing to me.

I don`t think i have seen a single mod post since the update,where have they all gone?

 

I was a 5 for 3 or 4 years too then one day I hit six and shortly after 7, I would like the chance to hit 8 at some point.

 

'CloudStrife 900, a UK moderator, has posted since the update so they are still about.

I know of one moderator who recently left the position but Scratch leaving it is new to me. I hope it is not true as the forum can't afford to lose any of the active ones.

 

The last time i saw scratch post he was a level V instead of M,and that was without the cul issues.

I sent cloudstrife a private message the other day in regards to a question he asked me and never got a response,i presumed he had been offline.

 

Scratch got a VIP a while back. He was still a moderator though the last I checked. The two aren't exclusive.

A lot of PMs got wiped out with the forum change, so its possible Cloud never saw the one you sent.

 

I didn`t think level V had the same "powers" as a moderator.

Cloudstrife had sent me a private message that had got wiped before i read it,i just wanted to know what it was.

 

A VIP level doesn't automatically make you a moderator but you can be a moderator and a VIP.

Moderator permissions aren't granted just by having the M. There was a moderator a little while ago who was a regular number, no-one released that he didn't have the M until I pointed it out.

Did you post in Cloud's headcount thread? He sent out PMs to everyone who posted in it. 90+ PMs that got wiped out by the change.

 

Scratch is indeed an all powerful Moderator. Not all V's are moderators but I happen to be one along with Kiesey78. I'm going on my 6th year dropping hammers. Moderators are here but believe me when I say that these sorts of times up our busy time.
In addition to moderating as normal we're working some super overtime making sure things get ironed out. It sucks because it leaves little time to hang out with you guys but we're not going anywhere.

Next week I'll be in Seattle so it's bad timing for how much you'll see me but most of us are here every day.

And yeah I manually fixed everyone's CUL last time and that was a pretty busy deal lol.

 

I didn't think Scratch would have not been a moderator, glad you're still keeping on my friend!
