Hello, I want to know which one I get Surround Speakers or Bars for Xbox One

Go to electronics store. They usually have these set up for demonstrations. The rest is up to your listening preference, size of the room, and budget.

I know how u feel (, there is only 1 way can get around it, u need buy a home theatre amp, most u can get with speakers, hdmi to amp and hdmi from amp to tv for pic and sound, hdmi amps still hav av plugs on back but I not sure if the hdmi out to tv will
cancel av out, might work and just turn tv down so no tv sound, try jb hifi . Harvey norman etc as game shops wont sell, some systems hav replaced surround speakers with a 3d surround 1 speaker bar, even xbox has own bar , but myself think wont truly be as
gd as real surround speakers

I don't know, I have ask my Mother for Surround Bar or Speakers for Xmas that all I asked for. Mum spending me about £550 for things I want so what do I need?

Based on a couple of information pieces (links below), I think the word "stereo" is mistakenly placed on the headset adapter. I don't have the exact facts and would also like to hear the official word from MS but think about this.. every surround sound
headset (except for ones with multiple speakers in the ear cups) use a stereo wiring. One wire for the Left speaker and one wire for the Right speaker. These wires come out from a surround sound processor (e.g. Astro Mixamp, TB DSS, etc) before they get
to speakers in the ear cups. The surround sound processor is what makes the headset a "surround sound" headset. These processors can do the same for ANY headset.

In the article linked from gamerawr, it states that MS is trying to negate the need for 3rd party audio processors by processing surround sound on the xbox one and feeding it to your headset via the headset adapter. Essentially taking place of a Mixamp,
DSS, what have you...

Also, Turtle Beach is labelling their XO series headsets specifically for Xbox One and uses "Cenematic Surround Sound" as a touted feature of these headsets... you know how they connect to the xbox one? Via the headset adapter (included).

I think it's perfectly feasible to have surround sound coming through the headset adapters. I just hope MS confirms that is the case.

That is a whole can of worms Many say that all headphones are 'fake' or virtial surround sound as you are not surrounded by 5 or 7 speakers, some headphone (I think) have 5 or 7 speakers but they are still all right beside you 2 ears so the effects are
questionable over 'virtual' surround sound.

Anyway, as far as I know the update (which I have) makes it so the optical cable can output surround sound...none of the new headsets for xbox one are connected using the optical cable. Your son's headset will connect by optical cable to the receiver/stand...so
for my money a headset like that will get you the best sound for now. There are rumours that surround sound might be possible at some point in the future through the adapter but I think that is a long way of and/or far fetched, I don't even know if it is
technically possible.
