First, welcome to the Xbox community. Regarding the fps boost that is present in the Xbox Series X/S, it is a technology that is only available to them due to the processing power they both have.

In some selected games you can play at 120 FPS, whether old or new generation games, but this is something that also depends on the game developers, as they need to give permission for Microsoft to implement such technology in their games.

The fps boost will allow you to play games with a higher frame rate which will improve your gameplay. In some games with active technology, maybe you will notice a loss of graphic quality because with this active mode the game will prioritize the high fps rate and if necessary it will decrease the graphic quality of the game.

"Games that have been boosted to 120 FPS require a 120 Hz-capable TV and your console's display settings set to 120 Hz. If your TV or console is not configured to support 120 Hz, FPS boost will be grayed out."

There are no plans to release new FPS boosted games in the near future, because not all games are able to be boosted. Microsoft is working on searching and improving new games, but there's no info available of when we will have access to the improvements.

Original Xbox and Xbox 360 BC for both Xbox One and Series X|S consoles has been suspended. There are no current plans to release any more older titles to these platforms.

The Series X|S consoles are fully BC with all Xbox One games (with the exception of Kinect titles) and all of the original Xbox and 360 tiles that were made BC for Xbox One. That's over 2,000 games.

The BC team are currently working on FPS boost for the Series X|S consoles. FPS boost takes certain Xbox One games that were locked at 30 or 60 fps and upping the frame rate to 60 fps (for 30 fps titles) and up to 120 fps for 60 fps games.
