  1. Heed my warning about ESO

Game was great at first, been playing since early access. Since then the game has become a nightmare on PC. I spent a long time leveling the abilities that made my character strong (like intended) and a couple patches later my character is useless.

If you are thinking you are going to play though the game solo, you are mistaken. I was able to until the recent buffs to mobs and bosses. Now even a simple 3 person mob wipes you out like your nothing. You are forced to play with friend's or randoms. THIS
IS NO LONGER A GAME YOU CAN PLAY SOLO, or as they advertised "Play the way you want."

I have respec my character 3 times at 17k gold, and each time I find a new build they break it with a patch or hotfix. Now everyone in the game is using the same weapons and abilities spamming spells because it is the only way to play the game.

PvP is a ghost town, veteran zones are a ghost town, and im gonna say it right now their servers will be a ghost town soon enough.

Tanks are obsolete, I spent the whole game making the ultimate tank and now he is irrevelant. So dont get caught like I did and spend countless hours playing a game just to have the developers destroy your build. I basically have to learn to play the game
again in a style that i do not enjoy or I can continue to play with my broken character (and now nobody needs a tank character in their group).

I would suggest going to their forums and reading the general discussion if you don't believe me. I can only imagine what a mess this will be for console.

    :)

This is a perfect example of what this game has become, doing nothing but spamming the same spell over and over and over and over and over and over, you get the point.

I'm still planning on buying it for X1 but it's going to be swamped with competition by the time it comes out on console. I'm already busy playing other games like Titanfall, Watchdogs and Wolfenstein. E3 announced a whole swag of other games that will come
out for Xbox One by the end of the year and early 2015 that I want to play as well.

  6. Ok, the game is a great game but it's not the MMO that you've played prior.

Whatever class you choose be sure to balance your character.

Everyone should be able to heal, do ranged and melee.

The game offers many options even at early levels. You also should be able to fulfill two roles. Take your pick as one will be primary and that's the build you chose from the start. The secondary (when u unlock weapon swap) should balance out your character.

Expect to swap between weapon/skills during battle because u only have 5+1 skills per weapon to use.

If anyone can't solo until level 48 it's time to pay for a respec. I'm a Templar but are guard and began as a tank and healer. At level 35-45 I focused on healing and dps but it's more important that u use the skills of your class and use weapons and armor/
    crafting to balance yourself out.

Healers are great but keep a healing staff skill or healing spell handy as it sucks to wipe because everyone was hoping the one healer wouldn't die. Also be able to take some hits if your melee. U don't need a taunt but u should be able to stay alive with
seldom heals. Block and dogs more than u attack.

Ranged. Should be ready to use a melee weapon as well eve if no skills because every encounter is different.

The PC issues are as follows.

    Bugged quests

    BOTS.

Spam in general chat where ppl think it's a trade channel or Facebook/twitter.

Issues with zoning sometimes u don't end up where u should. Slight issues.

Often having to log out and back in to progress I a quest.

Phasing issues that will prevent u from playing with others. Some of it is intentional as far as main story or guild quests but no idea why grouping is allowed when the main quest lines prevent grouping often.

Looking forward to this game. I'll keep my main on PC and reroll to compare experiences.

If this is below 900p I'll guarantee it'll be a very sparse population as Destiny looks as if it's going to take most. Being FTP and a MMO style shooter.

you'd think they'd give you a free respec when they patch it like that, terrible, can't understand why they think it should have a sub.

Hey Smurf, that sounds like good thoughtful advice. I'm just slowly feeling my way around trying to figure out what I really need to know. I'm not a charge in, guns blazing sort of person so I read everyone's advice to see what i can take away. That being
the case, I have a question for you about healing. My Nightblade can heal herself with siphon but other than that I will need to use a resto staff to gain the heal skills that go with it, correct? Do resto staffs do as much damage as a destruct staff if they
have the same damage? That is if both staves do x amount of fire are they as effective other than skills attached? I also have a mage and I like the knockback available with a flame staff. Can I use that skill if the resto staff has fire damage?

  9. It seems to me that the weapons you use are not important except for the skills you learn by using them. Is that about it? Combat is really all about bringing the right skill set into the fight?

To each their own but it's still a good game with loads of potential in my opinion; after viewing the YouTube video posted earlier I am convinced that the game is full of narrow minded elitists. I don't mean that in a negative manner because I often find
my self in that category trying to find the perfect build. DKs were clearly overpowered since day one and elitists took advantage of that, as a result the class got nerfed! And DKs are STILL overpowered!!! as lame and boring as it was to see someone spam spells
in Craglorn, how many classes can solo veteran dungeons and pull a leet mob like that?

Personally, it bothers me when DKs complain about anything but I do think that they should let you respec for free after a major patch. As smurf stated, ESO is unlike any other MMO in the past...and learn your spec and don't expect to spam your way out of
every situation. In my opinion, the old MMO mechanics of having a Tank, DPS and healer in a group are more eclectic in ESO; meaning the roles are still there but no particular class is sworn to them. When I played WoW as a healadin, that was my role...if a
pug already had a healer I had to wait for the next group, in ESO I can DPS or heal.

Lady Bastet, weapons do have their value when complemented with the proper skills. e.g., the healing staff passive "cycle of life" (+10% addit'l damage) coupled with the Templar class passive "balanced warrior" (+4% addit'l damage) as a result it benefits
the from final hit on a heavy weapon attack passive "essence drain" (+30% heals) coupled with "restoration master" (+5% on all heals)...along with the additional +30% heal bonus for allies with >15% health, makes a single heavy hit turn into a substantive
+ heal without the cost of ANY mana. What make it valuable is coupled with the weapon spell "mutagen", I can keep up a total of 3 allies with one spell and heavy attacks; better managing my mana for other spells. Bottom line, check out how other passives complement
    each other.

Lol, I do accept the risk of losing one ally because with the "Master Ritualist" passive I can rez them in nearly half the time with nearly all of their health...it's also my trademark as an elitist jerk to let the weakest link die, it serves them right
for pulling aggro from the tank or any other dungeon transgressions.

    Heed my warning about ESO

Haven't been on in awhile. I'm slowly loosing interest for some of the reasons you mentioned.

Quest are the so random with what happens.

The Battle engine is the worst I've ever seen.

The last upgrade added a few things but none of them are worth anything more than another proverbial carrot. I'm pretty sure July will be the end of this game for me. It just isn't cutting it anymore. Might as well go back to the wasteland of Fallout. Way
to many single players running about.

-Healing is or has more to do with the people understanding your healing abilities (not skills)

The healing staff as far as damage will or can produce the same values as any other staff

Healing skills from the healing staff can offer a very effective way to heal a group and somewhat heal yourself too.

    *Weapons*

People will try and use the weapon skills AND the class skills together but what I've found, other than the Healing staff (if you want to heal outside of class skills) I never put any points into any weapon skill until after level 30.

-This sounds crazy but follow me here. The class skills in most cases can be used in any circumstance regardless of weapon choice. Figure out what you want to do and put those on your bar. The weapon skills may use 1 or in some cases 2 skill slots but
any more than that and you're defeating the point of having a class.

    *Options*

You can play this game anyway you want and the weapons or class skills approach bundled with guild skills will further define your character at level 15 and beyond. Don't go in thinking any combination will yield the same results. There are definitely
some BETTER options vs. others and this also depends on the side you play. I can choose any race and play anywhere.

    *Me*

I've played a Templar, DK and Nightblade all to level 15.

I mostly enjoy the Templar so I have a level VR1 and a level 25+ on two different sides.

I personally use a lot of healing staff skills when healing until level 20 (not character level but weapon and class skill level) then I reset my skills and mostly use class skills with 1 weapon skill on each weapon (2 total).

    *Roles*

By the time the game comes to Xbox One hopefully roles when grouping have some clarity but in general anyone can play any role to a level of success. The game is built on teamwork so just because you're not the healer, doesn't mean you shouldn't have a
healing spell. Just because youre not the tank, if melee doesn't mean you shouldn't have a taunt skill, and just because you're a healer doesn't mean you shouldn't have any DPS skills.

Again at level 15, weapon swap allows everyone to make use of 10 skills, 2 weapons and 2 ultimate skills at the press of a button. People will try and be one class but if you really want to enjoy playing you and others should have two roles that you can
play until you hit level 49.

    *Disclaimer*

All of this applies to PvE rather than PvP.

PvP is a total different strategy and starts at level 10. I think with time people level doing PvP primarily but there are a lot of skills that you must have that comes from quests, shards and dungeons so you really have to play PvE to be on par with others
    in PvP.

  15. *EDIT*

    First Character,

Just play and have fun until level 20 or so. Don't worry about where you put the points and skills just keep about 4k gold to reset and have fun.

If you don't like your choices, make a new character and play to level 15 and see if its worth paying to reset skills OR if you like the new character.

Its not like an MMO, and its no like TES.

Its basically a mixture of successful ideas compiled from MMO and RPGs over the last 10 years.

I will say that there are some features that don't really work well but then again the PC version is not finished so all of this is my paid BETA review and recommendations.

***Kinda feels like Diablo 3 on PC before the Xbox 360 version came out. I'm really hoping that will be this experience for xbox one and PS4 players.
