Headsets suddenly quit working.

I have 2 controllers and 2 headsets. The controllers worked with the headsets up until today then just cut out. I tried to connect the headsets to each controler with the same result resetting the console several times, re-pairing the controllers several
times. When I disconnect the headsets from either controller I hear a faint click in the earphone. I also tried both headsets in another device and they work as they should. It is more than coincidence that this happened the same day with separate controllers
which were not on at the same time. Controllers are up to date. How or why did this happen and what can I do to correct the issue short of having to buy another $60 controller. These controllers and system were brand new 12/2018 and has been lightly used up
to this point.

Thanks for reaching out here in Xbox Forums I understand there is an issue with connecting a headset to the Xbox
One Controller.

I recommend taking a look at the following troubleshooting articles:

If the problem persists:

Try using a Headset Adapter for compatibility issues.
Try your Headset on another controller, if you can. If the headset works on another controller, try
updating the first controlleragain.
If that fails, the controller will need to be replaced. To order a replacement, go to the
Xbox Online Service Center.

Try this out and let us know the results.

I did go through all of the troubleshooting steps with no change in the situation. Thanks anyway.

The problem I have with that scenario is I was using just one controller and 1 headset. The other controller and headset were set aside not being used. When the issue occurred I tried the spare headset in the controller i was using and it didn't work either.
I then tried the other controller with both headsets...same results. Then went and did the troubleshooting steps with both controllers still not working. The headsets are both "Afterglow LVL 1"

you could try them in another xbox to see what you have and then get back to synchronize with yours

I have the same prob my head set works and sometimes it doesnt its annoying
