    • What accessory are you having trouble with? Tritton Kama Stereo headset/ xbox One Chat headset...xbox One wireless controllers
    • What exactly is happening? Party members can hear me, but I can't hear any game play sounds or party voices through either headset. Neither headset has ever worked. We bought the Tritton headset thinking that the xBox one arrived broken,
but since both don't get audio to me, must be a setting somewhere, not a headset problem?
    • What have you tried so far? Please be specific! Updated both controllers, checked chat mixer settings, NAT settings set to open, tested both headsets through xbox (got flashing circle around my icon...so microphone is working),
also plugged Tritton headset into computer and listened to music...so earphone speakers are working)
    • Are you in the Update Preview Program? No

    :)

Headset audio not functioning starting 1/20

After an update on the morning of 1/20 any audio coming through a headset plugged into a controller no longer works. Both chat and game audio is not served to the headset.

Tested Xbox Polk and Astro headsets.

    Tested elite and regular controllers.

Tested xbox slim and xbox release models.

    Do a hard reset.

Make sure you assign the controller to the user.

Test it in another xbox, if its still an issue its broken.

Thank you, EDB. I had done the hard reset (more than once) and made sure that the controller was assigned to me, but forgot to mention that before. I have no other xbox to test it in at home. Will have to test at a friend's. It seems odd that both headsets
would present with the same audio problem, so maybe it's something about the xbox itself. Does anyone have suggestions for other settings I can check?

The xbox one chat headsets don't last long, especially if you dont hand them up when not in use, and the Tritten ones you have are entry level, I would recommend testing them in another console before anything else, if you have the same issue its the headsets.

how are you storing them when not in use?

The xbox chat headset never worked from day 1, but neither did the Tritton. Since they both didn't work in the same way, I tested the Tritton ones with music, like I said, and they work fine for audio in (and sound as good as my Beats).

They are stored in a basket. I'll check them with a friend's xbox asap. Is there anything xbox console-related that could cause this?

If you have a different controller they could be a loose connection in the controller, so if they work on your friends console, then try controller on your console, and if they work you have a controller issue, TBH you should have return the console at the
    start if something didn't work.

  9. You tried both headsets on two different controllers, if i understand correctly. And only Mic is working, no game sounds or party sounds what so ever? Is there any static or noise audible?

Do you use an adapter to plug in the Tritton headset, or just using the 3.5mm jack right into the controller?

If you go into Settings -> Display & Sound -> Audio Output, what does it say there? Should be 3 settings for HDMI, Optical and Bitstream.

I would have guessed a controller issue, but since you have two and both are updated and tried, it seems unlikely to be the culprit.

    Thanks, Angryvato

Settings (as they are right now)

    HDMI audio....stereo uncompressed

    Optical Audio....stereo uncompressed

    Bitstream Format....off

This afternoon using the Trittons I got audio from a chat buddy, but no game play sound. So weird. Maybe it is a loose connection someplace after all.

One of the controllers gives an error message that says "no microphone detected", so that one is broken somehow.

I'll play around with this issue a bit and post again once I have some more info. Thank you!!

  11. Might try slidding the headset jack in/out of the controller port just a tad and retest. It could be that the jack pin isn't making a good enough connection.

Just a little adjestment in/out can often spell the difference.

    Good luck!

  12. This is very strange indeed. If you only had one controller, i would suspect an issue there, but two acting the same, and also on two different headsets..wierd.

That being said, you could try and take out the batteries and reinsert them, although that shouldn't really be an issue on both controllers at the same time.

Best way to troubleshoot further would be to take both controllers and both headsets to a friend or store and ask to test them there on another console to see if you can replicate the issue or if it works there.

Have you tested the standard headset that didn't work from day 1 on another console. That and the after market set not working would have my alarm bells flashing as a console issue, Especiallt if the issue is on more than one controller.
