    Headset won't work


    I bought a headset a while ago and it is compatable with xbox one(I forget the name of the headset and dont have the box). Recently, the headphone jack in my controller has not been working right causing the sound to completely cut out until i plug it back
    in. Sometimes this doesnt fix the issue. I tried plugging the headset into a new controller though and it wont work at all.

    The headset is NOT broken. I had this same issue with my last set and this relatively new one had these problems the moment i began using them right after purchase. How do i gey my headset to work with my new controller?

    I would make sure the headset is supported. Some headset's won't work. What headset is it ?

    Headset won't work

    Updating your controller and using a Headset
    adapter     solves most issues with headsets.

    Most recently I had to do a Full shutdown from

    Settings>Power and startup>Turn off>Full shutdown to solve a muted mic icon on screen, but that was a rare occurrence. Most times a firmware update is all that's required.

    Hello there,

    Thank you for posting on Xbox Forums. Just to clarify, have you tried to update the controller, or connect the controller to the Xbox One with a USB cable? When you connect the headset to the new controller does the controller detect the headset and
    there just isn't any sound coming out of the headset? or does the controller not detect the headset at all for either controller? Does the headset work on other devices?

    How do I update the controller and firmware?
    Goto..

    Settings>Kinect + Devices>Devices +accessories and click ...(3 dots) and do a firmware update even if it reports its not required. The links above show more detail.
