    Headset with mic not working


    Hoping someone has an idea for us. My sons are using wired, mic'd headsets with their wireless controllers.

    The headsets work on other devices, phones, etc. But, when plugged into the controller they do not work.

    I've been through all the settings and checked for permissions -- all seem to be set correctly.

    Any other ideas on why the headset will not work with the controller when it works with other devices?

    Xbox One Headset Adapter Problems

    I have a turtle beach px21 headset and purchased the xbox one headset adapter. The stereo sound is coming through really well, but the mic isn't working with it. Is this a known issue or is my headset mic not compatible with the xbox one?

    If the headsets are of the 3.5mm jack type with three rings on the plug, then know that there are two standards for these connectors called OMTP and CTIA.

    In these two standards the microphone and ground connectors are reversed.

    So it might be possible that your kids are using OMTP style connectors, and the headset is sending the microphone signal to the controller's ground pin, while the controller is listening for the microphone on the ground connector of the headset.

    Simply go to a phone store or look online for a CTIA to OMTP adapter (or vice versa, since these adapters simply cross two wires, they work either way). These adapters should be dirt cheap, as they only cross two wires, so if you are asked to pay more than
    the price of a coffee to go for such a cable you're being ripped off.

    Make sure the headset is compatable with the Xbox. Make sure your console settings aren’t wonky, they could be prohibiting the mic from working. Is it just the mic that isn’t working or the headset all together?

    Only one that will work is my headset mic but I prefer to use a usb mic.

    Sorry bout that, but yes, you can use the headsets without the mic...I thought you were talking bout the mic...but yeah all headsets that have the optical output will work with the xbox one. It's just that the mics won't work and I posted a link showing
    how to fix the mic...

    X Box One Controller is muted

    Our xbox one controllers stopped working with the stereo headset (just the mic) all simultaneously.

    We tried plugging it into the 3.5 mm jack. None of my 3 controllers worked after having worked fine for months. All updated to latest firmware.

    I tested the headset on my iphone and the mic was fine there- I could record voice memos with no problems

    went to GameStop and spent $50 for the stereo headset adapter, and that allowed the mic to work again for another 30 days.



    Now the mic is stuck on mute again, the headset adapter’s slashmark icon stays lit
