headset output is selected, but it still plays through tv

Ive dealing with this problem for months. As a follow-up to my previous question, I did buy a new headset. However, the audio plays through the tv even though the headset only output is selected. This matters because my audio in my headset keeps lagging,
and i suspect it to be this. I could be wrong so feel free to correct me.

    :)

I know what your talking about, but that option is comparing chat audio to game audio, not headset to tv. To clarify, the chat audio is fine and never lags; its the game audio

    Hello JoeyZarra,

As far as I know, you will hear the sound in both devices (TV and headsets) until you change the mixer.

You can modify it via the Xbox button, and two or three times to the right, you will have the sound mixer in there. Try to move it all the way to the headset and check if it lags or not.

Why only party chat can go through TV speakers?

    Not game audio, game chat.

In settings, Xbox has an option to make party chat output go through your headset, headset and TV, or TV.

but that's only for party chat. i've always wondered why xbox can't do the same for in-game chat too?

With in game chat, if your headset is plugged in; game chat automatically goes to the headset, with no option to have it output through TV.

really sucks when you can't wear headsets, you can't play socially outside of parties. (in party chat; i use my headset mic, but have their voice output through my TV. game chat has no option to do this, you must wear your headset to hear teammates)

    Headset Echoing

If using headset for game audio and chat, mute the TV or any device your game and chat audio is coming through and make sure 'chat' is set to output through headset only. If you have your tv volume up in the background while you're on the headset there
will probably be echoing especially if you have your party audio set to output through your TV.

How to get discord chat through headset and game audio to come out of tv speakers?

Hi there! This is Virginia O.

I understand that you want to chat through the headset and game audio should be on the speakers.

I apologize for the inconvenienced this has caused you. I will do my best to help you.

Please access audio settings by pressing the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide. Navigate to Profile & System > Settings > General > Volume & Audio Output.

Under the Volume section, look for Party Chat Output.

Select Headset for party chat audio to come through your headset only.

And for the game audio output. Make sure that your Audio Setup is configured to output game audio through your TV speakers. You might need to select the appropriate audio format under Speaker Audio (e.g., Stereo Uncompressed).

Next is to go to Discord audio settings. In the Discord app on your Xbox, check if there are any specific audio settings that allow you to route voice chat separately.

Once everything is done, start a game and join a Discord voice chat to confirm that party chat is coming through your headset and game audio is playing through your TV speakers.

    Thank you for your cooperation.
