Headset only working on 1 of 6 controllers

We have 2 Xbox’s, 6 controllers, and 2 headsets. The headsets will only work with one of the controllers. It doesn’t matter which Xbox the controllers are paired with, still just one controller that works with the headsets. Does anyone have a fix for this?

Have you checked the firmware on controllers is updated?

Controllers are all updated to the latest firmware

While updating each controller, make sure the headset is connected before the update process.

well i do only have 1 controller im not sure if its the controller or the headset it was working this morning though is there like a warranty for the controller?

After the update, when the headset (original xbox one) was plugged in, it would not recognize the headset.

I had to go to settings and assign the controller to my account. Once the controller was assigned to me (it is originally unassigned), the headset worked like it did before.

Notes: I only have 1 xbox live account. I only have 1 controller. There has never been anyone else's account logged in on here. There has never been another controller linked to this xbox either.
