Headset OK but not working on Xbox One S

    Hi

I have a Corsair 550 headset to my sons Xbox One S..

It has worked fine.... but now it is not working.

Neither gamesound nor chat is working.... You an hear the other players through the TV.

I tried the headphones on my computer and works just fine - both hearing and mic.

WHAT can be wrong... there is a crossed microphone when I go to group session - but can not unlock it.

Seems only solution will be to reset the Xbox soon to get it to work...

Is there anyone who can help?

    Thnaks.

    Niklas

    :)

    Headset or controller problems.

I have exactly the same problem, working fine through 3.5mm headset jack on controller, next day no sound at all through controller, only through tv. Controllers won't recognise headset plugged in. I have two controller and both the same. Headset ok on other
devices and worked fine on xbox one s prior. Just randomly stooped recognising headset plugged in.

Have followed all trouble shooting recommendations and no joy.

    Hi Niklas,

Thanks for your post! Have you attempted to use another controller with the headset? If a controller's 3.5mm jack is damaged, it can cause the symptoms described to arise.

Let us know how this goes, thanks again.

    Hi Ezra,

Yes it did not work in the other controller neither.

It did work in my computer for Skype conversation though, both hearing and microphone.

    Also 3,5 mm connection.

When I am in a group mode the ring around my profile does not light up. Even though I switch to headset / mic on.

I have a childrens account.... could that be "ghosting" this failure in behind..?

    Kind regards

    Niklas

Try performing a hard reset EXACTLY like this. Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the power cord back in and restart
    the console.

    Hi

The hard reset did not work either.

So... I have seen on a lot of community discussions this is a quite frequent problem, why does not Xbox fix this?

    Anyway...

Left to do now is from my point of view:

    1) Trying to erase the child account - to see if that affects the adult account (even though settings are changed to allow all)

    2) Buy a new Xbox Controller.

    3) Reset the console ? Will that work?

    Kind regards

    Niklas

    Hi!

It seems a problem with audio output. Check the audio settings, go to: "Settings"->"Volume"->"Party Chat Output" and select "Headset".

    Hi

    Already done. :-(

Seems I am running out of options here.

Will it work to reset the console - as a worst case scenario ?

    Kind Regards

    Hey Niklas,

If this is a software issue, I recommend performing a
    factory reset
on the console while keeping your games and apps.

    1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
    2. Select Settings.
    3. Select All Settings.
    4. Select System.
    5. Select Console info & updates.
    6. Select Reset console

Hi, It could be the controller itself that's the issue, Have you tried the headset on a different controller by chance ?

Thanks I got it done by buying a new controller and connected it by USB-cable + just in case made a hard reset + reconnect the controller to the console.

Probably would have worked just by a new controler but anyway it worked.

Will also try to attach both the old controllers by USB and make a hard reset with them - pressing the reconnect on the controller then the hard reset before it attach the console again... interesting if it will work....

I see it as unlikely that both controllers stopped working at same time... should be something with the connection. .

    Hello Niklas,

Through my own experience, it has happened where more than one controller may begin to experience errors around the same time period, but in this case it always best to ensure that minimizing that possibility is fully attempted.

    A few suggestions here:

    • Always ensure that any/all controllers have been updated
    • Ensure that batteries even rechargeable are not the cause to power distribution errors

We know you have confirmed resolving the issue, so we will lock this thread but if there are any other inquiries please create a new thread detailing the issue and we'll be glad to assist.

    Best wishes!
