Headset not working

My headset doesn't seem to work anymore. No sound coming through for chat and no mic indicator. The headset is pushed in all the way and I tried a different controller. Strange thing is when I push the 'volume up' button, I can hear the beep. Seems to have
cropped up after the last update. I don't play very often, so not sure when this started.

Thanks for the link xenomorph. After i followed it my headsets mute light started to flash. its still not working, but at least its doing something. I will probably give microsoft support a call and see what they tell me. Thanks again for the help.

 

I was having a similar issue and now my controller shuts off when I plug in my Headset

 

I've had this same issue. Im using the polk 4 shots for my xbox and not long after having them no sound was coming through. I tried the 4 shots with other things and they worked fine so I assumed my chat adapter was faulty. I bought another chat adapter
and the problem went away, my headphones worked fine again, until today. I now have no sound coming through my headphones again, Microsoft can get lost if they think I'm paying £20 again for another chat adapter. Annoyed isn't the word.

Hey guys,

If you can hear people through your mic but they aren't hearing you, it's normally because the controller with the mic plugged in doesn't know which profile is using it.

The fact that you can still hear the volume up beep tells me the headset is fine.

Try one of these two suggestions:

• Position yourself so kinect can see your face and the controller in your hands.
  
• Go to the home screen and select your little profile icon on the top left next to notifications. Then select Choose this person on your profile.

Why is my mic *** not working it was making a buzzing sound now it's stop but can't hear any think it is pissing me off can some please help

Polk 4 shot ....had the same issue, pressed volume up on controller and could hear the beep upon maxing out but no other sounds..... Solution: look down at your controller... The part that connects to the controller then to your headset has 5 buttons...
Press that button on the top left that looks like a controller with a plus sign on it.... BACK IN BUSINESS! scroll left and right on the dashboard, you should hear the sound now. High Five!
