Headset not working in Xbox controller..

Hi, so i have two xbox controllers that i have had since i got the xbox. However, i purchased a new headset recently to replace the old earphones that i used before. This headset only works in one of my controllers, and i would like it to work in the other
controller as i prefer it. The headset is not faulty as it works with basically everything and the controller is working fine as well as my old headset and my friend’s headset both work in it. I have tried everything from restarting the xbox to updating the
controller, but only to find that the controller will still not pick up that it has a headset connected to it. If someone could help me i would be very pleased.

Headset and wireless controller

6 week old Xbox one, wireless controller and head set, all working fine and now headset and controller not working together. Checked headset else where and working fine, checked controller and all working, any suggestions please . Have already switched
off and reset, disconnected controller and re-set already still not worked

Xbox Controller - Not working with Stereo Headset

Hello, I've had a Stereo Headset for a number of months now working fine with my day-one edition Xbox One controller. A few days ago it stopped working, though the controller itself works fine. it was just the audio that wasn't working. I tried to headset
in another controller and it works fine, so its not the headset itself, just the controller. Please help! Thanks.

Thanks for reaching out! I'm sorry to hear about the current issue you may be having with one of your Xbox One Controller. I recommend to take a look at the following troubleshooting resources:

Have you
updated your controller’s software to support the Stereo Headset ?

Make sure your controller has fresh batteries. When the batteries get weak, some controller functions, such as audio and rumble, are turned off to conserve the remaining power.

Make sure your Headset Adapter is firmly plugged into your controller and that your Stereo Headset’s 3.5-mm cable is securely plugged into the Headset Adapter. You will know it’s plugged in properly if you press the mute button and the LED lights up.

Try your Xbox One Stereo Headset with another device, such as a laptop, to see if the headset is working. If not, the headset will need to be replaced. To order a replacement, go to the
Xbox Online Service Center .

Try your Stereo Headset and Stereo Headset Adapter on another controller, if you can. If the headset works on the second controller, try

updating the first controller again. If that fails, the controller will need to be replaced. To order a replacement, go to the
Xbox Online Service Center .

It is probably a problem with the controller since it works on the other one. Make sure the controller is fully updated with the headset attached.

Yes the controller is fully updated and i have firmly attached the headset but still won’t work.

It appears then that the controller is the cause, in that the headset works with other controllers except the preferred controller.

Our suggestion here, all Xbox accessories garner a 90 day warranty to which may be used on such cases so it might be best to reach out to our
Customer Support Team or check out our Devices Section on
our website to get started as well.

Yes i understand that, but i would not want to replace the controller as other headsets work with it and i am well over my 90 day warranty. So i am a bit stuck on what to do, unless there is a generic fix for the problem that doesnt involve me replacing
anything.

Thanks for the reply! I'm sorry to hear that the controller may be over the 90 day warranty.

One thing I would suggest is trying to
Set up and use the Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter. This adapter will allow you to connect the 3.5mm jack from the headset.

Personally, I always recommend wored as Bluetooth technology is always based wirelessly without full certainty.

Will need some more info, what is the make and model of the headset

Has this worked the past.

Does the headset portion work correctly, in other words do you just have an issue with the mic.

Can you try another controller, or better yet try using the headset on a friends xbox or take it to gamestop

If the headset works on another controller then it may be an issue with the controller or console, if this headset does not work with another controller, then it may be an issue with the headset.

Not all headsets are supported with the xbox

Nothing to do with controller or headset set it’s the Xbox I tried the headset and controller on a different Xbox and they work fine

there are 2 places to check for the Headset volume settings.

there is a Chat Mixer which sets up the mix of game and chat volume balance and there are the audio settings.

do both headsets work on the Xbox that 1 works on?

if they do, pair the controller from the Xbox they don't work on with the Xbox they do work on and see if both headsets work on that controller.

if they do try both controllers and headsets on the Xbox they weren't working on.

if they don't then it should help narrow it down to the Xbox, 1 of the controllers or 1 of the headsets.

you may have to get a Headset Adapter https://beta.support.xbox.com/help/hardware-network/accessories/stereo-headset-set-up-troubleshoot
or see if you can get a repair/replacement on the faulty item.

Are you using a third party controller? If not, you may require a headset adapter (as stated above). Xbox controllers have a unique input jack size that work with Xbox headsets or require an adapter to work with third party headsets.

KALEEF

Turn off and disconnect all controllers from the Xbox 360 and disconnect the wireless headsets from the controllers.

Connect the wireless headset to the Xbox 360 using the USB cable. Turn on the wireless headset.

Sync the headset to quadrant 1 by pressing the "Connect" button on the on the Xbox 360. Then press the "Connect" button on the wireless headset for two seconds. Do not continue to press the "Connect" button on the wireless headset, as this will change the
quadrant to which it is connected. If the headset now works without the controllers attached, the problem must be with one of your controllers. If the headset still does not work, then the problem is with the headset.
