Headset not working because of controller

My headset was all messed up the other day. My friends said they couldn't hear me at times and at other times my headset was making some vibrating-sounding noises. I can hear them fine but they were having issues with the stuff coming out of my headset.
My friends headset broke a while back and his was having the same issues so I figured mine was breaking as well and I just needed a new headset. So I bought a new headset and according to my friend it sounded just as bad. So I'm thinking that this must be
a controller issue. Odds are that my current headset and a brand new headset just didn't break out of no where. I updated the controller with the headset plugged in and did a hard reset but that didn't fix anything. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this
issue besides buying a brand new controller which I really don't want to do cause the controller works fine for games?

got this brand new controller yesterday and have been using a headset and out of nowhere my headset just stops working and it’s not the headset it’s the controller because the headset works perfectly fine on my old controller and now whenever I plug in my
headset on my new controller it makes a loud staticky noice and won’t work

Xbox Controller - Not working with Stereo Headset

Hello, I've had a Stereo Headset for a number of months now working fine with my day-one edition Xbox One controller. A few days ago it stopped working, though the controller itself works fine. it was just the audio that wasn't working. I tried to headset
in another controller and it works fine, so its not the headset itself, just the controller. Please help! Thanks.

when you do a hard reset remove all batteries and usb cable and hold on the power button on the controller for a minute to drain all residual electricity in the controller, then plug the battery back in, try also brand new AA batteries, I personally prefer
these batteries http://goo.gl/TZJme8 for both my Xbox One controller and Scuf One Controller and if all these don't resolve your headset connection issue, get a new controller and use the other one as a backup,
maybe for games you don't need the headset for or netflix, hulu or other apps you need a controller without headset , this way you put less wear and tear on the new controller.

We've updated the console. The controller was brand new. We purchased it because our other two controllers didn't work with our headsets. Yes the headset works on other devices. So frustrating! Is our only option to purchase the adapter? Thanks!

No I don't have a kinnect, and it is the xbox brand headset. I think I may just have a bad controller because I hooked my wired controller into m console and the headset worked fine

Because the Xbox isn't the one pairing your headset to the console. This works exactly the same way as a controller, where the controller is the one that "remembers" your console, and not the other way around. What has to "forget" the console is the controller, or in your case, the headset.

I just checked the headset on my phone and they work perfectly fine.

Do you have a second controller that you can check with the headset? Because it seems that the headset connector on that controller is defective, if not even sound output works, and the console doesn't detect the microphone.
