Headset Not Registering

I've had this console for a little over a month now, and already, I've had to replace the controller AND the headset for this one problem. I'm not doing this again. Out of nowhere, my headset just isn't registering. I can't talk, I can't hear anything through
it, I can't change the volume... Yes, it's plugged in. No, I don't pull on the wires. Yes, I tried unplugging it and plugging it back in. No, I don't own a Kinect. That thing creeps me out, so I'll never get it. Anyway, this is the second time this has happened
to me. I don't know jack about technology other than how to use it. Any suggestions would be nice. ...Any USEFUL suggestions would be nice.

Xbox Controller not Registering Headset

Okay, so I got this Xbox a few months ago for christmas along with two controllers. I had a controller custom made from xbox design lab and another burgundy one. I initially used the burgundy one and plugged my turtle beach headset into it (not using a stereo
adapter.) This worked fine and the mic worked too. I used this for a few months, then my controller analogue stick broke. After, I switched to my custom made controller. I plugged the headset into it, still not using the adapter and it did not even register
that a headset had been plugged in. My controllers are all up to date.

I have this same problem... headset worked fine on two different controllers, now as of a few weeks ago, the headset isn't recognised as being plugged in, headset works fine on computer or elsewhere - so not head set, both controller used very little and
new in Dec, so unlikely a problem with both of them.

 

Had the same issue, don't know if my Mic is having problems or if it's Xbox. Personally I think it's Xbox seeing as every time I try join someone's party it throws me out or says there is network limitations. This is beyond a joke now and I have no clue
what to do about it. If your going to release a console... Make sure it works first. Cause I feel ripped off and just left here with no answer to any of my questions. And now I have a 600 pound paper weight with Xbox written on it. Someone do something about
this....

 

Update: I don't know how, I don't know why, but I tried to open my controller. I popped the handle panels off- after half an hour of figuring out where the screws were; there are none- and saw I needed a tiny allen wrench. I gave up, put the panels back
on, and decided to try one more time. Suddenly, the headset is fully functional. Again, I don't know how, and I don't know why, but I guess I 'fixed' the problem. Anyway, my recommendation would be to never unplug the headset EVER. From the day you plug it
in until the Earth is swallowed by the sun, never unplug the headset. Never ever ever never EVER. Other than that, come on Microsoft. You've had over a year. Get your
[Mod Removed] together. This is partly why I wanted to migrate to PC, and sort of have.
