Headset not playing xbox sound

My little brother has 2 turtle beach headsets(I'm not exactly sure of the models). I have tried both of the headsets on each of the three controllers that he has to no avail. There is a mute symbol in the top right corner of the screen and I have created
a party to make sure that it is not muted, as well as not muted on the actual headset. I have done a power cycle and also factory reset the xbox but that has not helped either. The xbox is a brand new xbox one S that was bought because his older xbox one had
the exact same problem and we couldn't figure out a solution. It was working perfectly until a week or so ago also but now all sound plays from the television. Help would be greatly appreciated.

I had this problem also, the problem is the wires inside the headset What I did with my headset is move the dongle around until I hear a sound play on the headset if you don't hear a sound play then move the dongle slowly until the headset icon appears
on the Xbox

Like I said both the xbox and turtle headset mics work fine just don't get sound out of them. Is there a setting inside xbox that might have turned off the sound to the headsets as xbox plays fine through my tv no problem with the sound.

Frist try remake the configuration of your controller by follow that path Settings > System > Kinect & Deivices > Controller The reconfigure like new

Hi there.

Can you be a little bit more specific on the headset itself. Is it the standard xbox 360 wired headset that plugs into the controller? Or a proper audio headset used for gaming (example: Turtle beach / Tritton / Ear force headsets)?

Even so, all of these headsets will have a volume switch / scroller attached to them somewhere, if so be sure it's not set to zero.

Try performing a hard reset EXACTLY like this. Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely.
Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes.
Plug the power cord back in and restart the console.
