headset not picking up my voice

problem occours with... ms controller, and two different brands of headsets. looked for product names but did not see anywhere. problem also affects kienect... does not pickup my voice... ihear other people fine and ingame sounds. seems like to me the problem
didnt occour until after the last ms update. so... no voice from me in game chat or party.

Yeah checked that the detachable mic is pushed into the headset to the max. Just unplugged everything from the Xbox and will leave it an hour or so.

Is it the headset that the mic can be removed? If it is, make sure the mic is firmly pushed into the headset until it clicks.

 

First thing would be to log in here
enforcement.xbox.com/Home to see if you have any communication bans.

If you don't have a communication ban then start by performing a hard reset. Hold the power button on the console for 10 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the power
cord back in and restart the console. Once it is back up and operational test for results.

Post back with results and any additional steps that you have take to resolve the issue. Good Luck!

 

well first off my communications status is perfect it had no restrictions. Neat site didnt know about it before hand.

Proceeded with the next part... held power button on the xb1 until power shut down, then unplugged the power supply from the back of xb1...for over 5 mins. After which I reconnected the power supply back to the xb1, ugh but I didnt wait 5 mins before restarting
the xb1... hopefuly this isnt a huge part in the steps. Otherwise the steps didnt correct the problem.

I actualy only use the headset with 2 of the people on my friends list so now im wondering if this on their end... cause they both use the same xb1 so it could be? Checked, they use a earforce shadow that says it is only wired for the 360,pc,mac and mobile
but i was with friend when purchased at local retail and the dept manager said it work... i dont remember something about a cord... anyway.... cause when i try talking on game chat or party to them my voice isnt coming threw and on party i see the ring flash
around my avatar pic so i know its picking it up on my console. Is there any option in settings that would affect this?

 

It could definitely be on their end. The managers will tell you anything because they probably don't have a clue and they just want to make the sell. You might try it with some other friends to see if you have the same results. Good Luck!

 

hmm well i work at the same store as the dept manager and have no reason to doubt him but just from reading other people posts on the same topic its the same problem with no voice... its all these updates ms keeps pushing out that fix one thing and bug up
5 others. Then a guy comes on here for some sort of help only to get a run around or told its the users fault ... idk.

The enforcement site is always a good place to start for issues like this. No one is saying it is the user's fault just trying to rule out the easiest possibilities first. You suggested that it might be on the other user's end and I merely suggested trying

So my friend came over and tried four different times on four ms controllers using two afterglow and one ms headset. Yet still no chat avaible, if you guys cant resolve this issue then I should get a discount towards my gold suscription. I dont like paying
for a service I cant fully because of some bug from ms end.

Hate to jump into a pissin' match, but I have been having the same problem. I haven't had any luck in resolving it either. It started just the other day after the update. Which btw gave me so many problems with my service that I have spent the last two
days fixing them. I used xbox support for some of the problems (they had to have me do a factory reset to resolve some issues) and some on my own.

I've had a xbox live account longer than some players have been alive and I know my way around xbox's quirks and the peripherals problems. I just can't seem to figure this one out. I have the Turtle Beach Stealth 500x wireless 7.1 dolby headset and haven't
had a problem with them since I bought them in December. After the update, and the problems associated with it, I have no microphone in party chat or game chat. I can hear my voice through the Turtle Beach's mic, so I know it's working. I can hear the games,
console sounds, even the people in a party or in game chat. No one can hear me.

I have been using my kinect mic, which does work, just not well. Plus if I move away from my console to do something no one can hear me. Kind of defeats the purpose of a totally wireless headset that costs almost $200.00. I've done everything to fix the
problem and have come to the undeniable conclusion that the problem lies with the new update.

Turtle Beach is no help as they have no customer support anymore. Xbox's customer support seems to be lacking these days too. I can't figure it out so I'm wondering if anyone else has had any luck? Any help will be appreciated and I will be posting this
whole reply on my own thread in hopes that someone will read it and be able to help.
