    Hello!

    I have just got my Xbox One X set and I am having a little trouble getting my audio set up to behave the way I'd like it to.

    I have a pair of Razer Tiamat 7.1 headphones that I use connected up to a Creative Dolby Digital headphone amp.

    The amp takes an optical signal from my PC and the Xbox One and feeds the surround sound to my headphones.

    The problems seems to be getting any microphone to register with the Xbox without the console thinking I've plugged in a set of headphones and changing the audio settings as a result. I've tried connecting the microphone from the Razer Headset, but as soon
    as it is plugged into the controller, the system says it is optimized for headsets and grays out all the "Speaker audio" options in the system settings.

    I also tried with an independent clip on microphone but the same thing occurs.

    Is there anyway of connecting a microphone to the Xbox One controller without the system thinking that a headset is connected?

    Not sure if this is relevant but just in case, the system is currently connected to my DVI monitor, so not over HDMI at all.

    This is a good question, but I've never considered doing something like this before. If you wait a bit longer, there will probably be a patch come out (or another adapter) to enable Dolby Digital capabilities.

    Thanks, I'll try that. However, none of this would explain why the headset would work perfectly, then by simply restarting the xbox the microphone or entire headset ceases to function. Then, after another restart, everything magically works again as if
    a headset fairy has delivered unto me the eternal bliss of beautiful 7.1 (simulated) surround sound.

    How do headsets work on the xb1?

    You still need to purchase a headset that has surround sound available on it. The Xbox is not able to make a stereo headset give surround sound. Hope this helps!

    Xbox One "'STEREO' Headset Adapter" clarity? Stereo or Simulated Surround Sound.

    Its a conspiracy. MSFT did not release simulated surround sound on purpose. It is a marketing strategy. Turtlebeach and Polk headsets are ready and capable of simulating surround sound as soon as the firmware is released. The Xbox headset will NOT properly
    be able to simulate surround sound. So, to boost their sales they made it to their advantage by ensuring NO next gen controller headset has surround sound from the controller. The MSFT headset actually sounds pretty good and is way cheaper then the XO7
    and Polk (I bought them all). Think i'm crazy? If you read different posts you will see people saying how they are buying the MSFT headsets since there is no controller surround sound and because they are cheaper.

    O think no the reason why their are no official surround sound headsets is because the spdif currently doesn't support surround sound, only stereo. Be a bit of a waste (and a possible legal nightmare) to release surround sound headsets, if the Xbox One
    can currently in not do stereo.
