Headset mic sending game sound to party

I've had no issues using my headset until very recently. It's an old-ish turtle beach headset, but it seems to be working fine.

However, recently, when I try to talk in a party, the other party members can hardly hear my voice and instead hear my game sound very loudly. I have no speakers. All the game sound is coming just through my headphones and there is no way that the mic could
be picking it up. Somehow, instead of sending just my voice, my game sound is also being sent to the party at high volume. This makes it impossible for me to talk in parties, since people can hardly hear me and it is very irritating for them.

Also, I should mention that it is not only game sound but every sound on my xbox, even the little "bloops" as I move through the xbox interface.

Has anyone else had this issue? Is there a fix for it? I researched it but had no luck finding anything. Please help. Thanks.

Party Chat Sound Problem

My headset works fine, it has sound and the mic works. Game chat works too but I can’t hear other party members in Party Chat but they can hear me

You may have to change the mic monitoring and change the sound balance. And also what model are the Turtle Beach's that you are using?

Hey Tim we split this comment from the old post so we can better assist in the matter at hand!

If it hasn't already been done we suggest checking out our
Xbox Mic Troubleshooter. Also we suggest checking for controller\console updates and as a last resort a reset of the console since the problem might be on the actual OS of the console so we would suggest a
Soft Factory Reset
(while keeping games and apps and hardwire the controller and headset) IF AND ONLY IF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA IS MET:

There is a stable network connection.
The information for all profiles is known (email and passwords)

We suggest hardwiring everything to make sure the updates (if any) get pushed through to all devices.

Once the setup is complete it will ask if we want to keep settings or manual setup lets do manual setup. Give it a shot and let us know of any changes!

on any game or certain ones? have you tried send a voice clip or party chats? to see if the problem could be your mic/headset

I am assuming that you have both game and party chat Coming through the headset and not TV speakers. Some mics even on a boom are extremely sensitive and will pick up even sound from the headset. If your mic is flexible, try to bend it further away from
the ear pieces.
