Headset/Mic Not Working

Hi,

Yesterday, my Xbox controllers, mic and headset were working fine. I try to talk in a party today and I find out my mic isn't recording any sound. I've tried my headset in my laptop, phone and in a different controller from the one I was originally trying
with, and the headset and mic work fine in both my laptop and phone, but I can only hear audio when I plug the headset in either controller. My NAT type is open, I haven't received a communications ban from Xbox enforcement, and I have double tried everything
on the Xbox One Headset Troubleshooting guide already. I have also checked for any loose wires, my mic monitoring, and the mute switch on the headset, and everything is as it usually is. Is there an issue with communication at Microsoft's end? It seems odd
to me that my microphone isn't picking up audio in either of my controllers, and I can't see them both breaking simultaneously with exactly the same issue. Any idea of what has happened and how I can fix this?

Thanks for reaching out to us! Thanks for checking out the headset on other devices and checking the network connection as well. Before we begin, I have a few questions:

• What type of headset is being used? (Turtle Beach, Afterglow, Stereo headset, Chat headset, etc)
• What type of controller is being used? (Special Edition Controller, Standard Xbox Controller, 3rd party controller, etc)
• Under Devices & Accessories > ... , does it show the headset connected and is "Volume" available?

Please try another controller with the console and let us know if the headset works with the other controller. Does the headset work with In-game chat or does it not work for Party and in-game chat?

Make sure to change the batteries in the controller as well. Here is a link to help with Xbox One Chat Headset troubleshooting.

I'm using a Turtle Beach Recon 50X headset, and I'm trying in two controllers, one is a standard Xbox controller (which I have tried new batteries in) and the other is a wired mini Xbox controller. For both controllers, in devices and accessories, the headset
and mic are recognised and the volume is available, but the mic doesn't appear to work, either in game or in a party. There also seems to be a slight audio issue, which I can only imagine is a glitch from Microsoft, and I'm not sure if it is related to the
microphone/headset issue or not - the Xbox guide 'beeping' sounds can't be heard either, even though I can hear all other audio, whether in game or from people talking in parties.

Are you using the Turtle Beach audio controller and/or Microsoft chatpad adapters too? If so, try unplugging them and connect the headset directly to the controller if it has a 3.5mm plug. I had an issue with one or both of those with my TB XO Four for
awhile and I had to direct connect the headset until a new dashboard update was released.

 

Hi Frathos, I'm not using any adapters unfortunately, I just have my 3.5mm cable plugged directly into the jack. There doesn't seem to be anything else to try with it.

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear about the issue with hearing noise through your headset. I recommend taking a look at the audio settings under the System Tab. Try this:

1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
2. Select Settings.
3. Select Audio.
4. Select Headset Chat Mixer. Try adjusting the settings in this menu.

If the problem is persistent, I suggest to visit the
