Headset Mic issues with Xbox One S

My son's xbox keeps having problems with the mic and his headset. I have checked the headset and I went and bought another controller. The problem that happens is the headset and mic work perfectly. Then after a few hours of use the mic stops working
then the headset entirely. I have gone through all the trouble shooting options. I cannot change any of the chat mixing because the xbox doesn't detect a headset even being present. This happened with the first controller. When I bought the second one everything
was fine. After 2 days the same problem occurred. I made sure the xbox and the controllers were updated. Still no luck.

I opened the first controller and bent the pins up to improve contact. That didn't help. I finally did a soft reset of the xbox and after that the headset worked with both controllers. That was yesterday. Today the headset was working fine and then stopped
working mid game. Same problems.

I am not sure what else to do. Hard reset? Return the xbox? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I recently have the same opposite issue. I plug a mic/headset (which is my cellphone one) and it only recognize it as Headset. It´s weird, considering that it was not the first time using it. I use it on a lot other times, and did work as expected. So, maybe
try blowing into your 3.5mm jack in, or cleaning the headset plug. It may work, maybe? The mic ones and the heatset ones have different plug (Two strips for the headset ones, three for the mic ones), it all depends on the controller.

I have a turtle beach px21 headset and purchased the xbox one headset adapter. The stereo sound is coming through really well, but the mic isn't working with it. Is this a known issue or is my headset mic not compatible with the xbox one?

The Xbox system does not detect the mic and there is no sound coming out of the headset.

When connecting to a PC or phone the headset has sound. Although I did not test the microphone to see if it was detected at all. I will attempt that later

I still think the issue is with the Xbox one S controller that originally came with the console.

Try performing a hard reset EXACTLY like this. Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely.
Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes.
Plug the power cord back in and restart the console.

If that doesn't resolve the issue. You might consider trying the adapter on the controller.

Please let us know if the adapter works for you. This has worked for many others, as the headset plugs into the adapter. Then the adapter plugs into the controller different than the 3.5mm jack. Seems the 3.5mm jack is the issue.
