    Headset Mic Issue


    I just signed my son up to be part of the Xbox Live community. We have bought a new xbox compatible gaming headset. Our problem is that he can hear his friends, but they cannot hear him. I have tried EVERYTHING...including...testing the headset out on
    our PC (worked fine), so it isn't a hardware problem with the headset. I have also tested the headset with other controllers. I made sure my NAT setting was 'Open', which it now is. Sounds of games and other people come through perfectly, but for some reason
    my voice is not registered, and the blue Xbox party chat ring around my name doesn't light up, and I can't be heard. I have fiddled with various options in privacy and audio/volume settings, have done a hard reset to the Xbox console, restarted my router.
    I am still having this issue. I've also made sure there are no xbox controller updates for me to download either. Also, my headset is not on mute, I've checked countless times with my headset adapter and in the party itself. I would appreciate any response
    on how to go about trying to solve this issue.

    It maybe your headset mic. Try using a USB mic for speaking there while you use your headset to hear. That is what I would do since the mic from the headset may have issues at times.

    When you checked controller update, did it report no update required?

    Did you run the update anyway?

    What firmware version is reported when you check for update?

    Check the manufactured date of the other controllers.

    The update needs to be run on every controller you use.I used to run the update when the controller has the adapter attached with headset plugged in and using a plug/play/charge cable connected to the console.

    A couple of times (different OS version) I needed to run the update after the console had been totally powered off and power cable removed.

    I would assume this to be a mic/headset problem. Maybe try a different headset and see if that fixes the issue.

    There could be a short in the cord or issues with connection of the headset mic or parts of the headset itself.

    Most manufactures have some warranty if it's a newer headset.
