headset issues with xbox one s

I have a terrible time getting any headset to work on my xbox one s. Right now we have two xbox-compatible headsets. Our wireless xbox controllers have the 3.5mm jack. Both our headsets audio works fine when plugged into another device (laptop, etc).
But the xbox controller doesn't seem to recognize them. We do not get the "audio" option in settings menu to appear when they are plugged in. No sound. Very frustrating. Any ideas? The newest headset in question is a Plantronics Rig 400HX. Thanks!

    :)

I know this isn't about the fan issues but does anyone on here know why I recieved my Xbox One S with no issues other than there isn't a headset? Surely I should get one.

Audio Issues on XBox One S when listening via Controller/Headset

Just bought an xbox one S and have noticed consistent, periodic sound issues.

    Setup:

    - Xbox one S

    - Controllers: Elite Controller (used previously on another xbox with no issues), white xbox one S controller

    - Sound via Turtle Beach headset (used previously on another xbox with no issues)

    Issues:

    - Game audio (and likely other apps such as netflix) are crackly and "break-up" for durations

    - When this occurs, people in my party say that my game chat is also crackly and broken

    - This does not happen all the time, but when the xbox gets in this state, it will last for 10s of minutes if not longer. But there are also times when there are no audio issues for hours.

    - When the issue occurs, I can connect my other controller and a backup headphone with the issue still being present. So I do not think it is a controller or headset issue.

    Any thoughts on this?

Thank you for the reply, but none of that troubleshooting information helps. I've already been through all the xbox troubleshooting guides for this. I don't even get the options in settings to manipulate audio settings. When I try to configure controller
I can't even click on the volume button to get into those settings. It doesn't recognize that a headset is plugged in. I've tried multiple controllers, updated controllers, the headsets are not muted, etc. Thanks in advance for any further thoughts you
    may have.

  6. Hello, J598!

If you have already completed all of the troubleshooting to no avail, then it would be as that link had stated, a indicator that either your console or the controller you are using needs to be serviced.

I would try to soft reset the console, making sure to keep games and apps by following the steps outlined on

    this article
    .

If your console still does not recognize the headset, then it might be that you might have to repair the controllers or the console.

Let me know if resetting your console helped resolve your issue

    Much Thanks!

    Hello I need some Help.

    Hi GilgameshRune,

Sorry to hear you are having issues with your Xbox One and your wireless headset. Can I ask if your headset was working with your Xbox One S before you connected to the Asus monitor or is this all a new setup? I am thinking there may be a compatibility issue
    with the headset.

Brad mentioned reaching out to the manufacturer, you may want to ask them if the headset you have is compatible with the Xbox One S in wireless mode or if you can only use the headset in wired mode connected via the headphone jack on the controller.

    Hope this helps :)

The Xbox Ones S and X are not supplied with a headset and you would need to purchase a compatible headset

    Xbox One S need adapter?

    Hi Demonic 445,

The Xbox One S controller does not need an adaptor and any headset that has a 3.5mm cable should work. Although I would always choose a headset that is ‘for Xbox’ as it rules out any issues with compatibility.

    Hope this helps :)

    One S headsets

Well, if you need a wireless headset, I recommend this one Xbox Wireless Headset | Xbox as it is compatible with Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles.
