Headset is not working

So not long ago i bought a new controller and headset and for a while it worked but then all of a sudden it just stopped working and i had to hold the mic in certain spots in the jack for it to work , then one day it just totally disconnected no matter what
i did. When i plug the mic in it doesnt recognize that it is plugged it and there is a dashed line over the mic in the left connor on the hime screen. Ive tryed numerous things , is my jack in the controller dodgey or brocken? Any suggestions or do i need
a new mic completely or controller.

Headset is not working

Hey i was wondering why my xbox headset is not working? i can hear friends talk in party chat but when i try to talk they cant hear me? I've restarted my xbox a couple times, unplugged every wire, even modem & router and it still doesn't work. I've
read a little bit online and it seems to be happening to a couple people too. I updated my controller awhile ago as it says i cannot update. I've tried everything and nothing works. (I don't have a kinect either)

I just hope i don't need to spend 25$ on a new headset for that one not to work either.

Mic problems on my brand new Xbox One

my mic on my xbox one headset is not working ,i a new headset still not working..........come on fix it MS!

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. By any chance have you tried that headset on a different controller? Or a different headset on that controller?

It will only show up if you have a headset that is plugged in with a headset adapter. Means it works with turtle beach headsets and others like that. It won't work with the headset that comes with the xbox. If you buy a chatpad you get a other headset with
itthat one works too. Other then that the headset options don't show up with the standard headset. Hope that helps.

Will need some more info, what is the make and model of the headset

Has this worked the past.

Does the headset portion work correctly, in other words do you just have an issue with the mic.

Can you try another controller, or better yet try using the headset on a friends xbox or take it to gamestop

If the headset works on another controller then it may be an issue with the controller or console, if this headset does not work with another controller, then it may be an issue with the headset.

Not all headsets are supported with the xbox

Tried 2 different headsets one is an MS authorized chat headset. The first headset was working till about 3 weeks ago, it works fine on other devices. Definitely not a headset issue

They are all headsets for x box one and all the headsets have worked at some point. What i mean is the headset will work once then not work again and so on

BOught a stereo headset as well as a new controller. wouldn't you know- the old headset works fine with the new controller and the new headset doesn't work with old controller.

Problem- DEAD controller headset port.
