Headset chat cable adapter and 5.1 optical output coming soon?

I have been patiently waiting for the announcement about when I can expect to be able to use my Astros A50 to chat on LIVE with the One. They just announced some new updates, and I was hoping for news about the adapter, but they didn't even state that Dolby
5.1 would be supported via optical output - a requirement of the Astros A50s. Has there been any news, however slight concerning the headset adapter that will allow owners of third party headsets to chat via LIVE on Xbox One? I heard on podcast unlocked
they were trying to get the optical problem solved in time for the update, but any confirmation of this would be most welcome

Surround Sound Headset?

Looking for a new headset now that they are supported, and I did a bit of research on the surround sound headset options. Although this information isn't very easy to find (for some reason), it seems that Dolby Digital isn't supported by the headset stereo adapter, but it IS supported through the optical output in the rear of the system? If that's the case, would I not be able to take a headset with multiple analog jacks (Razer Tiamat, for example), put the microphone jack into the stereo adapter on the controller, and then find some kind of optical adapter to hook the rest of the channels up to the output in the back of the system to get 5.1 or 7.1 through the headset? If so, do such adapters even exist?

Honestly don't know, might have to look that up. I guess sc_shark or Kn1ghtmare can answer that better.

Unfortunately there is no official word yet mate. We are all patiently awaiting news on this. Most of us like you have expensive headsets sitting there collecting dust just waiting for that glorious moment to be plugged in!

They did state that the console will be updated again in March to give the best experience ready for the launch of Titanfall. No official information has been given but in my eyes, 5.1 would greatly improve my experience so I'm taking it as a hint.

You are going to be looking at legacy Xbox 360 / PS3 headsets that include a mixamp. The mixamp (external dsp) gets audio from the optical output on the console, so you are going to be limited to 5.1 channels (DD or DTS). That is a bandwidth limit of the
optical port. Any headset that includes a "chatback" cable that plugs into the 360 controller will work with the Xbox One Headset Adapter.

I've got a pair of XO7's coming to GameStop on preorder (supposedly in tomorrow). Realistically, now that MS has decided to limit the controller output to stereo, I may not keep them. I can get full 5.1 DD through the optical output -> XP510 base -> wireless
to XP510 headset and stereo chat through the (cheaper than the new headset) adapter by itself.

The only reason I'm even accepting the XO7 is to try it out, then connect the 510's and compare them. There's a (slim) possibility that audio (either game or chat) will be better with the XB1-targeted headset.

from what i gather at the moment is that the optical output is stereo till they patch it (would be sure that will be soon though) but the hdmi will be 5.1 and 7.1. but if you cant wait for the patch and just have to have the 5.1 then there are hdmi adapters
that have an optical out incorparated in them, or if your tv has an optical out you could use that
