Headset Adapter

I have a pair of sennheiser momentum headphones that I use with the headset adapter. I get sound perfectly fine through them but the mic doesn't work. I looked to see what style of 3.5mm plug they are and found out that it's CTIA. I thought the adapter
worked with all CTIA compatible headphones, anyone have any info on this?

I know nothing of the CTIA stuff, however i continue to have the same issues with my adapter/astro mixamp post april controller update. I turn on my console, start up a party chat with a friend, and the damned thing doesnt work. I notice the icon for my
chat not lighting up when i speak.

Through constantly messing around with the adapter i have found only one solution. I unplug the adapter - plug in my cheap xbox headset that came with the xbone - if that headset works i unplug it and plug back in my adapter and it always works. Sounds ridiculous
but its been the only reliable fix for me.

Im hoping at some point they actually fix this crappy thing with a proper update.

 

I would check on line to see if your sennheiser are compatible with Xboxone

 

spent 5 hours on with support tring to fix a similar issue, try to "re sign in" hit home go to top left and "choose this person" again then see if it works.

 

Consistently, when I run into this issue, I fix it the same way each time - for future reference, the "unplugging, then plugging" thing isn't crazy, you're on the right track - here's what I have to do (FYI, I am on Tritton Gears 3/AX 720+ headphones, with
the same issues):

1. Make sure the adapter and headset wire are both plugged in to the controller BEFORE powering the controller on.

2. After turning on the controller, if Kinect Sign In is turned on, make sure to also go to the top and highlight your picture, press A, then scroll down to choose "Choose this person" (as mentioned in HHG's step)

3. If no sound is experienced, I unplug the audio cable (not the whole adapter) and plug it back in, and it immediately works. For some reason, it seems that even if the adapter is plugged in when the controller is turned on, the adapter doesn't fully power
on until it actually sees the cable being inserted. I have tested this with the Party App - going through steps 1 and 2, the "mic activity" light stays dim. Going through step 3, the green light immediately lights up with any sounds.

I think, YMMV, depending on the brand of the headset and the type of connection (straight 3.5 or using the 3.5-2.5mm adapter, etc.) there are different issues and different solutions to each, but the three steps above should get you there, regardless.
