    Xbox One headset adapter question

So I have the Xbox One headset adapter, and the 2.5mm to 3.5mm cable messed up today. I know it's the cable, and not the actual adapter because I was moving the cable around and it worked only in certain angles.

I was just wondering if anyone uses alternate 2.5mm/3.5mm cables for their headset adapter. Tried looking some up but some reviews said that it didn't work for the Xbox One adapter. I just don't feel like cashing in another $25 for a headset adapter, but if I have to, I will. I also no longer have warranty.

Want to get a single headset for 360 and xbox one... what works?

I use the Turtle Beach XLA's £25 (cheapest turtle beach I've ever seen lol)- It was a 360 headset, but I bought the adapter thing for the Xbox One - Power it from the one (via USB) and plug it in to the headphone port on my tv meaning that if the xbox one
is on 'Instant On' mode the headset will still work for my 360 & when watching tv. One thing to bare in mind though is that my adapter cable went faulty and I went to change it at the store they couldn't replace it as they had replaced so many that they were
out of stock..... :-( Its one of those silly flat cables, so i guess having your headset plugged in and it hanging down will eventually make it faulty. The XLA is a good solid headset though and I've had no complaints - just a bad design on the adapter cable,
I even tried to replace it myself at maplin but its a cable specific to the xbox one so the only way to replace it is with the components of the cable and a soldering kit.....

Xbox one char adapter wiring problems

To OP: Unforunately, it's not as simple as sending your cable in for replacement. I sent mine in thinking, and being told, the same thing. I explained to the first support person that the (Official) Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter was comprised of 3 total
parts, as listed on the side of the box. 1.) Headset Adapter 2.) USB Cable 3.) 2.5mm to 3.5mm Audio Jack Adapter. I informed them that my Headset Adapter and my 2.5 to 3.5mm cable were in need of replacement. The repair order was made and I boxed & shipped
them the 2 aforementioned faulty parts. 2-3 weeks later, I receive the replacement from MS. I open the box and find in it a Headset Adapter and a USB Cable. I figured it must've been a mistake and I'd just ask them to send me the correct cable. After my issue
was bumped up to the Escalated Support Team, I receive a call from a very nice support lady. She quickly understood what my problem was and tells me that unfortunately, Microsoft doesn't replace the 2.5mm to 3.5mm cable, and that she had seen other customers
with the same issue as me.

So now I have half a Headset Adapter that I can't use without the cable. Oh, and now I have 2 USB cables that can sit in a drawer for a few years!!! I'm not complaining about the support I received. Everyone I talked to was trying to be as helpful as they
could be. I was reimbursed the value in the form of Gold subscriptions. What I'm blown away by is the fact that Mocrosoft won't replace their own product. And they won't sell you the cable by itself. So basically, you are forced to either buy a third party
cable and hope that it works, or just buy a whole new Headset Adapter, which is likely what I'm gonna end up doing.

I even asked them if I could trade my 2 USB cables for just 1 adapter cable, but they wouldn't trade with me :( Shame on you Microsoft, Shame on you!!!!

Need to replace headset adapter cable/cord

    Hey there xxThatsDavedxx.

You'll more likely find one through an online retailer or a dedicated electronic store. Be sure to try a quick internet search for one :) In the future please be sure not to bump older threads, as this particular thread is from over a year ago. Instead please
create a new thread for any questions. Thanks!

Need to replace headset adapter cable/cord

Well so any generic cable will work just as long as the 3.5mm end has 3 rings? I ran into a similar problem today.
