My brother and I both got them yesterday. We also both have Turtle Beach XP400s as well as X12s.

First we tried the XP400s, (wireless/optical connection) and voice quality on both ends was horrendous. Very distorted sounding, sort of like someone screaming into a microphone, as well as audio cutting out.

We tried the same thing with X12s (wired/stereo connection) and got the same results in party chat. Distortion, etc.

Then we tested both exact same setups using the Skype app. Perfect, crystal clear audio. Unlike anything I've ever heard on console gaming.

I've heard of the same issue from other people with different headsets including other brands, even the official Xbox Stereo headset.

Is this some kind of software issue? Any ideas?

    :)

Party chat and game chat volume issues

I'm not even sure when this happened but prior to my issue, using the TB XO Seven Headset/Adapter, I could easily turn down party chat until I didn't hear voices. There would be some variation in game chat volume but I could turn it up or down as I needed.
Currently, turning party chat all the way down will not silence voices and it will also affect my game chat so much that I can't hear anything. Do get party chat to silence, I have to turn down voice chat AND game chat. Again, not sure what happened.

The funny thing is, if I plug in the default Xbox adapter, party chat and game chat work fine seperately. However, the sound quality is amazingly bad. Anyone else experience this?

I have an Xbox One S

    Controller driver is 2.3.2388.0

    Headset driver is 4.7.00

Have you made sure you have done the software update for the controller/adaptor? Adaptor must be fully connected to controller and headset and controller connected to console via USB. It will then auto prompt the software update for the adaptor. Must be
done for each controller you own.

I started a thread on this... I have X12's... No issues.

    Two things:

1: Turn off "Use Kinect for chat" in your Kinect settings.

2: Unplug the USB power cable.

Both these things cause buzzing or static.

Make sure the headset your going to use is the one connected when you update the controller. If none of that helps, I'm sorry, there might be other issues.

I definitely successfully did the update on both of my controllers, so I don't understand.

And remember, this ONLY happens in party chat. Skype app audio is perfect.

    @ malra7s

Is the Kinect setting I mentioned disabled?

Do you have the USB connected to the controller when in a party?

Just trying to troubleshoot for you.

Yes, Kinect is chat is disabled.

As far as USB being connected to the controller, I'm not even sure what you mean. The only thing connected is the headset adapter and the headset connected to that.

I was talking about the USB cable used for power, or updating.

How are your X12's connected to the tv? Have you changed any of the sound settings on the X1?

I'm having the same problem, I have a brand new pair of ASTRO A50S and people are telling me I sound distorted, I'm too far away from the mic, and audio is popping. My mic works excellent on the PC, but not on the xbox now. What's up with that?

  12. It's a software issue that is affecting some and not others.

Is there another thread on this? Or is there an ETA of a possible update?

X12s are connected to the TV with the stereo splitter cable. XP400s are connected to the XB1 via optical.

Both have the same issue, and as I said not only on my system but my brother's as well with additional X12/XP400 setups.

I really don't think it's something on my end, at least not outside of whatever is wrong with the stereo adapter.

Ok... So idk if your tv has a 3.5mm headphone port... But I have mine just plugged straight into the tv with the green plug, and have both the game and chat volume turned up on the adapter, so I just use the volume dials on the inline amp for the TB's. My
X12's haven't had an issue as yet, and people in my party said it was crystal clear.

Sorry you're having this problem, but I'm doing my best to help.

Are your Xboxes running a wired or wireless connection?
