Headset adapter not working with newer controllers

So finally I decided to retire my Xbox Elite controller as the rubber grips had peeled off to such an extent that it was uncomfortable to use and no amount of glue could keep it together, at least it lasted me about 18 months or so.

I plugged my headset (HyperX Cloud II) into the Scorpio controller I got with my One X via the headset adapter I've always used previously and all I got was horrific static that was almost deafening. A seriously horrible noise that I couldn't bear
    for even a second.

Plugging in the headset directly into the controller via the 3.5mm port worked fine but it means going into all sorts of menus just to change volume and mute and it's generally not an acceptable option I think.

I assumed that the controller was faulty but rather than return the thing I opted to get a newer controller (the Patrol Tech) and some third party rubber grips to give me some of that
Elite feel again. Plugged in my headset via the adapter and immediately am hit with loud static again. Once again plugging in without the adapter is fine but the menu is so cumbersome to adjust volume settings that I really don't want to go down that
    route.

So what I'm doing now is using my Xbox Day One controller simply because that works. The Elite controller also works but has fallen apart and a weird custom Deadpool controller that my brother got me for a birthday some years ago also works. Only
the 'new' Scorpio and the 'new' Patrol Tech controllers don't work.

My only conclusion is that MS have changed something in new controllers (possibly since the introduction of Bluetooth) but has anyone else had this issue or know of a resolution?

Just to confirm - The console is fully patched and up to date, all controllers (old and new) are patched and up to date. Newer controllers just give an awful loud static noise when plugged in using a stereo adapter, older
    ones are fine.

    :)

  4. Headset adapter not working with newer controllers

    Hi there.

Sorry to hear about the issues with your controller and headset!

To be sure does a normal headset work with the controllers?

Let's have you follow the steps to
    test compatible headsets
with your controllers to be sure everything is as it should be.

Post back and let us know how that goes!

Mic stopped working all of a sudden!!! Please help

Are you using a headset adapter or one of the newer controllers that have the headphone jack? If you're using a headset adapter you wont be able to see that menu, so it must be some other problem.

    Elite Controller Mic Input Problems

Yes like I said, tried multiple known working headsets. All work with my 2 other controllers and not my newer elite. No adapters, and config wont fix it, it's a hardware failure of the input mic jack.

Razer Nari Ultimate with Xbox Elite Controller firmware needs to be updated

Again, I have tried updating it, wired, wireless (newer controllers can be updated wirelessly), with the headset plugged in and unplugged, and nothing works. Also after recieving my replacement controller, my headset has seemed to stop working. I am thinking
it is the fault of the headset, but my replacement controller is having issues staying on with new batteries. A previous post on here said an old adapter would fix the problems, and if that is so, I would think it would be the controller having to support
the headset, not the headset supporting the controller, as it works fine on a normal wireless controller.

Headsets not working on Xbox One anymore

Older controllers need the adapter. If it's a newer one you shouldn't. It could be the jack itself or the plug in port on the controller. Have you tried it on another controller? or tried another headset on that same controller ?
