Headset Adapter, Mic Not Detecting Normal Voice

Hello.

I have had the Microsoft Headset Adapter and a pair of Steelseries Siberia Elites since last fall 2014. Everything worked perfectly until recently. In order for my microphone to work, I have to yell or put the mic very close to my mouth. There must have
been a patch between December 2014 (the last time I played Destiny) and now that messed with the firmware on the controller or something. Sound comes in just fine, but I have to talk very loudly in order for the mic to be activated and chat with party members.

I have done/tested the following:

- Hard reset on my console.

- Ensured my controller is up to date (version 1.2.2236.0).

- 3.5mm Audio jack is clean and fully connected.

- Headset works perfectly with my computer.

- Microphone on the cheapo headset that comes with the console does not experience this issue.

- Skype works okay but the volume on the mic is low and breaks up sometimes. Since the mic is always active on the skype call, I couldn't test whether input would be loud enough to activate.

I hope Microsoft is working on a firmware update to the adapter or controller.

Help me please!

When my mic is plugged in I can hear the party but the party couldn’t hear me, my mic wasn’t even detecting my voice, I tried using 2 different controllers and I tried without the mic adapter, but all still have the same problem, I can hear party, party
can’t hear me. When my friend screams into his mic my mic will pick it up and echo but it won’t detect my voice. It detects my voice and works fine when I plug it into my phone, it’s not my adapter because like I said I tried plugging my mic into the controller
itself and still had the same problem, it literally worked fine this morning

 

Headset compatibility

I am going to buy a headset adapter but im not going to buy the expensive gaming headsets. I have a normal headset which has a mic and all and the 3.5mm jack so it should work as well right?

 

good luck with that one man, a LOT of us are experiencing this issue, where the mic is not picking up ANY audio. I can trace this as far back as January 14' and there's STILL no fix.

I wish they would at least add some settings in the UI to be able to manage the mic volume/detection levels. Plenty of applications that handle mic input have that capability.

I've noticed you posted similar things on other people's threads. I don't think you read my post at all, did not understand it, and/or are simply an incompetent troll.

My issue is not with Skype. Please read and understand things before posting. Thanks.

 

And for the record, anything voice input that works with the Xbox should work fine with Skype. I merely downloaded Skype to use the voice test feature.
