Do the Beats Solo HD's work with the XBox Stereo Adapter?

@Aox Chap - what did you have to do in order to get your studios to work? I just received my adapter a couple of days ago, and while it works perfectly (no static, no sound drop offs etc) with my Sony Pulse Elite headsets, I can not use the mic to send
chat audio on the Beats Solo HD's.

@madhattre which cord are you using? The regular cord on it input from the controler and then the boom on te output? Or the cellphone cord going in with the boom going out?

@su2root I have two cords that came with my studio beats. The black one works perfectly with the mic. The red one didn't work. Hope this helps.

Are you guys for real? I already posted a fix for people with beats. Spend the extra $30 and get this
v-moda.com/boompro-microphone It works and damn well. Thank me later.

Headset Adapter and Beats Studio Headset

I have the same issue with my Skullcandy Aviator. Microsoft might want to raise the sales for its own gaming headset Headset Adapter and Beats Studio Headset :(

@Madhattre It's not a matter of whether your v-moda mic works. I'm sure it does, but $30 is steep and if there's something more economical that does the job, then it's worth hearing about it.

@AoxChap My Beats Solo's came with only the red cord. Would you happen to know if the black cord you mention is available separately? The unboxing videos I've seen for the Studios show two red cables, one with mic and one without. There was no black cable
    shown, thus the confusion.

I also read in another forum that people have had luck with some other cable from Radioshack which runs around $10. I'm going to give that a shot and see how it works and will report back if it does indeed do the trick.

  10. Add to the list of inline mic doesn't work out-of-the-box:

    Bowers & Wilkins P7s

Sennheiser Momentum (on-ear but presumably over-the-ear doesn't work either)

Game audio is great for both those headphones, though. Especially Forza 5; there's a lot of truly stellar audio effects work in that game not evident listening via loudspeaker surround sound system or middle-to-low-end headphones.

I haven't tried a pair of Skullcandy Navigators but if, per posted elsewhere on this thread, Skullcandy Aviator inline mics don't work, I don't see any reason the Navigator mic will work.

Of course using the headphones for game audio and inbound chat via the headset adapter and the Kinect as the mic works pretty well. Without the ambient background noise of game audio over loudspeaker the Kinect clearly picks up everything I say in a normal
speaking voice at anywhere from 8 feet to about 15 feet, unobstructed line-of-sight. Yes it's going to pick up other people in the same room running their mouths but most gaming audio headsets' near-field mics pick up way more than should, anyway.

I read in another thread on reddit (www.reddit.com/.../beats_apple_earbuds_and_similar_mfi_headsets_will) that a user had success
with Beats Studio headphones using a cable similar to what @Aox Chap described, but he picked it up from RadioShack. I went and picked one up myself today for around $10 and change, and can confirm that it works perfectly for chat and game sound. The cable
is made by Auvio and replaces the red mic cable that comes with the Beats. The cable also has a mic + one button (so no volume up/down) which behaves similar to button on the Beats mic cable. Audio was clear and no issues seen. The SKU for the item is 3300541.

While this is after the fact, I also see several other cables on Amazon and other places which look quite similar to what I picked up (and for about half the price), and I suspect any of them would work just as well. Just do a search for "Headphone cord
with mic" on Amazon to see the bunch of 'em.

Too bad no generic solution that would allow the Apple headphones to work, but I guess it's not a big loss. Have a couple of functional headphones working now so all's good.

Lastly, one thing that I don't quite like about this setup (with Beats) is that there is no feedback on the chat, so you can't hear yourself through the headphones. If someone finds a way to make this work through some config setting, please let me know.

Thanks to all on this thread that helped provide responses, and I hope this info helps others in the future that come here looking for the same info I did.

  12. Its just because the 3.5 jack on the beats is not ctia standard. Is you want to use the original beats cord you need to convert over to ctia. Got a converter adapter and they work great. I have beats solo HD

How did you manage do use Kinect as mic while your headphones are connected to the controller? As soon as I plug in my headphones into the Stereo Headset Adapter my Kinect won't work as mic anymore... Strange thing is, this also happens if my headphones
    don't have an integrated mic
