Headphones do not connect to the controller

The headphone connection is broken on my TV.

or do you mean the xbox360 headphones (for the controller) ?

Last time i experienced this it was the controllers 3.5mm headphone jack playing up. Do you regularly connect and disconnect your headphones?

The connector type on the controller is intended to connect chatpads that uses that type of connection.

About the other thing, unfortunately as you have connected a headphone jack, if the controller turns off, the headphones connected to controller can't receive power to function properly. This Is why is not possible turning off automatically the controller when headphones are connected to it

If multiple headphones work on other devices and some previously worked on your controller it's pretty safe to say it's the headphone jack. If it's less than 90 days old it's covered by Microsoft.
