head set not working for an xbox one

a little info on the problem: I have 2 standard controllers with 2 Microsoft standard headsets. Yesterday morning I was playing and the headset worked perfect. I turned off the console and came back last night and the headsets were not working. Also
I am apart of the preview program

trouble shooting:

All firmwares are up to date

So far I have tried the rubbing alcohol on the connecters

I have power cycled my xbox one and checked to see if that worked.

I have gone into the settings and reset my console that way to see if that would help.

When I go into the device portion of the settings for my controllers it acknowledges that the headsets are attached.

The only thing I can hear is when I turn the volume up in my headset.

Chat head set not working

I got a Xbox one chat head set but I'm using it on my Xbox ONE S, I can hear them but they can't hear me

Alright, there have been no updates this month so that can't be the issue.

When in a party sometimes someone's chat option will default to game chat. In the part menu highlight your gamertag, press A and select Party Chat.

If that doesn't work then press the Guide button and while in the Home section highlight Party Chat, press Start and select Quit.

You could also try heading to Settings and choosing Devices then link the controller to your gamertag to see if that works.

thank you for the ideas I just tried the ideas and unfortunately none of them worked. Thank you very much for your time and I will continue looking other options.

 

Have you updated the controllers with the headsets attached from the Settings menu? Also, can you try the controllers and headsets on a friends console to see if they work properly?

You could also try deleting your gamertag from the console and then redownloading it to see if there's an issue with the tag itself (delete and redownload can fix that too).

 

so I ended up buying a new headset after trying everything you suggested didn't work. and now all three headsets work. I am truly perplexed on what happened and why its fixed now but it works. Thank you very much for your suggestions Onyx62is.
