HDR10 is supported on Xbox One X Blu Ray player.. what about Dolby Vision ?

Will there be a firmware update that will allow Dolby Vision Blu Ray discs to play on the Xbox One X? I don’t really want to buy a separate Blu Ray player for Dolby Vision unless I have to.

Dolby vision in the Netflix app

I have an LG oled c7 and watch netflix trough webOs .

By doing it this way you should get Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.

Microsoft will roll out an sofware update for netflix Dolby Vision shortly.

For the moment Dolby Vision is not supported on the Netflix app via Xbox.

I hope they also update the blu ray player shortly because there is much more content available on 4k uhd blu ray.

Xbox One S as an UHD blu ray player..

Hdr 10 has become the standard almost already while dolby vision is hardly used. So xbox one s will be totally fine for 4k hdr blueraysClick to expand...

Whew this was an old thread lol, anyways. Im not sure you read my post properly because I even said theres no reason not to buy it for its UHD player.

That being said you are right there is more HDR10 content and it is actually the minimum standard for HDR, but Dolby Vision has been gaining momentum and being used more and more Netflix and Amazon support it, many UHD Blu Ray movies support it, VUDU currently only uses it with HDR10 content coming soon apparently. Sony is patching DV into some of their tv's. Rumors of PS4 being patched for Dolby Vision are out there as well. If that happens MS will surely do the same as it shouldnt be something that is difficult to do if it can be patched into a TV.

I still think Dolby Vision is going to surpass HDR10 at some point in popularity and maybe even use either this year or next. One thing that might stop that is if Samsung's HDR10+ takes off which is a dynamic version of HDR10 which would cut one of the main benefits Dolby Vision has on HDR10.

There has not been any announcement about the Xbox One X supporting the Dolby Vision standard however can you please use the web site below to request this feature be added or vote for an existing idea on the web site below as this allows better visibility

I got a response from Customer Service: no support for Dolby Vision on Blu-ray app on Xbox One X at the moment (not even on Xbox Series X).

They said they are working on that, since a lot of people made complaints about this issue. I hope it's true, it's ridiculous to not support Dolby Vision nowadays on a device that has been promoted as a valid Blu-ray player.

I hope to see Dolby Vision supported in Blu Ray app as well, but currently only HDR10 is uspported. Dobly vision is supported for streaming.

Yes, please bring Dolby Vision support to the Xbox 4k Blu-ray player! I have a vast collection of 4k Blu-Rays and a tv that supports Dolby Vision (LG C9).

I wouldn't hold your breath. Dolby Vision is a proprietary HDR format needing manufacturers and producers to pay licensing fees whereas HDR10 and HDR10+ are open standards. With Blu Ray sales dwindling in comparison to the movie market share being snapped
up by streaming giants, I can't see MS making the investment in getting the blu ray player app licensed.
