HDR10 and 4K interaction. Not sure what is going on here.

Can someone shed some light on this?

    • When I have HDR 10 turned on, my TV outputs 4K + 120 hz + 120 FPS*, as expected, on Warzone.
    • When I turn HDR 10 OFF, the Xbox says that I should NOT be getting 4K + 120 hz + 120 FPS*. But my TV seems to indicate that I AM still getting 4K + 120 hz + 120 FPS*

See https://imgur.com/gallery/lVIW24Y which shows what I am talking about. Top picture shows the first bullet, bottom picture shows how the Xbox is saying I should not be getting 120/4K when I turn off HDR10, but the TV output reading shows I AM getting it.

Any ideas here? It makes sense to me that I SHOULD be getting what I am getting, but why is the XBOX saying I should NOT get 120/4K just because I turned off HDR 10? They are 2 separate things.

*I know FPS and Hz are not the same thing, but I verified on the Samsung Game Mode menu that I was getting the same number in FPS. Also, I would assume that we can reasonably consider 119 and 120 hz to be equivalent for this discussion.

Best TV for XBOX ONE X

Your screenshot shows TV doesn't support HDR10.

I bought my JVC 4K UHD thinking all good but mine doesn't support HDR10 either. Still better than old one😁

As mentioned previously, HDR10 is required for full 4K and Dolby Vision.

Next time I'll make sure it's supported.

xbox one x dolby vision problem

    Hi there,

Was Dolby Vision working for you before you sent it in for repair? What TV model and brand do you have?

I recommend going to Settings>Display & sound>Video output>4K TV details and make sure that your TV setup supports Dolby Vision which will be represented by a green checkmark. Then go to Video modes and make sure Allow 4K, HDR10, and Dolby Vision is checked.

Keep your color depth at 8-bit and refresh rate at 60Hz at 4K UHD as your resolution.

4K Monitor for Xbox One X?

Same here. I own a 32" 4K Philips BDM3275UP, that has all the specs to use 4K (HDMI2.0, 4K@60, HDR10, right cables), but the XB1X doesn't detect it as a 4K output device.

A typical non-working Microsoft product. 500Euro for nothing!

Will there be support for HDR10+ on the Xbox Series X/S?

Because no media supports it yet.
Media supporting HDR10+ as of now are amazon prime video and 4K UHD Bluray. A complete list of released discs can be found here: https://hd-report.com/list-of-4k-blu-ray-discs-with-hdr10/

Games could also strongly benefit from supporting dynamic HDR metadata!
