    HDR updates on more games??

Where are the updates to first party titles to support HDR? I thought the S was selling really well and would give reason to update first party titles to support HDR. I understand it comes down to the individual developer to decide to take the time to support
HDR, i keep seeing articles and Sony titles that are supporting HDR with updates since the Pro is now available.

I guess I am just a little disappointed that at least more first party titles are being updated with HDR support. I have Horizon 3 and Gears 4 and those look amazing in HDR and I'd love to see Halo 5 in HDR as well.

    :)

  2. 4K UHD Blu-ray problems - picture stuttering

Update: I tried the 4K UHD Blu-Ray version of the Martian (brand new), and the same problem occurred. Stuttering and dropped frames with HDR enabled on the XBox, and flawless playing with HDR turned off. Once again, auto brightness was turned off, motion
smoothing features turned off, my Vizio P55-C1 definitely supports HDR10 (it's getting an HDR signal from the XBox when I have HDR turned on) and firmware updates for the TV are automatic.

    HDR

I have an Xbox One S. It seems as though HDR video is not supported on this app. I can't get any youtube videos to play in HDR. Are there any planned updates to the youtube app that will add support for HDR content?

    HDR updates on more games??

I have seen loads of news reports about PS3 Pro patches for existing games, but I haven't seen may of those that also mention HDR, is it perhaps that most of these patches are purely for resolution upgrades or draw distance improvements?

To be fair though, it doesn't surprise me that there aren't many games getting patched for HDR, I mean of all of the Xbox One owners out there, a small fraction has a UHD TV, and of all those with a UHD TV, its an even smaller amount that has a UHD TV that
can do HDR. I mean I own a UHD TV, but it cant do HDR, so for me I don't really care about HDR.

Also, the original PS4 has been updated to do HDR, but not one single PS4 game has been updated to do HDR (as far as I know)

Its basically a question of cost, whats the point of creating a patch for a game to do HDR if only a very small amount of games can actually use it. Fine, make it HDR compatible when the game is being created, but to create a patch for a game that is months
or even years old? no point.

  5. HDR is still a relatively new feature in general, so it's slowly rolling out as new titles come along (so as long as they decide to support it).

While it's new, I'd figure only a small minority of players actually own 4K TV sets with HDR (like what Shaggy2000 mentioned), because those TVs are principally high-end and quite expensive right now. Throwing out 4K/HDR patches is probably not an opportune
time for devs at this time. There may also be some underlying performance concerns in getting legacy, pre-4K Xbox One titles to natively support 4K (let alone HDR), because those games were originally designed to run at 1080p.

That's at least what it all seems to me, because I know there's a lot more involved than simply "flipping a switch".

  6. Maybe if MS provided HDR patch for X1 in general, as Sony did for Playstation - will it be more urgent for devs of games to even think about going there.

I'm wonder if the engines devs are currently using, have any rendering regarding this. I think they need to process multiple frames to do one that is sent to display - not sure though.

I recently bought a HDR/AEB capable camera for shooting still images - and the amount of processing involved to do it right is using up cpu power.

Certain things are restricted when camera produce HDR image direct in camera. And normal AEB take three images - not sure how games might do it sitting on the source rendering.

Try a suggestion at uservoice.com, and see if it surface until Scorpio maybe.

I dont follow it too much either, but from what I gather,

Xbox One has Forza Horizon 3, Gears 4, World of Tanks, and new Deus Ex, with Battlefield 1 HDR confirmed for update later.

PS4 has already updated Deus Ex and Last of Us, and probably a few more, but cant think of them. Battefield 1 also coming soon.

I think Forza Horizon 3 does (or will have soon) HDR support. I have the original Xbox 1 and will upgrade to Xbox Scorpio which will thrash Xbox 1 S in terms of hardware performance. There really isn't much performance difference between the original Xbox
1 and Xbox 1S. It still has DDR3 RAM. It still only has 8GB RAM. Same clock speed CPU 1.75Ghz. With only a very small fraction increase in the GPU clock speed. My Sony Full-HDTV KDL40EX720 doesn't have HDR support. But you don't need abnormally rich colours
to make a game look bling. The colour stuff we're use to from 3 years ago is completely fine.
