  1. HDR support and Sony projectors

I just bought a new Sony VPL-VW365ES projector and Xbox One S. I updated the projectors firmware to the latest version (2.301) which adds support for HDR. My problem is I can't get the Xbox to identify this projector as supporting HDR. I spent a couple
of hours last night trying numerous configuration combinations and menu settings to no avail. Then I took my Samsung UHD player with HDR support off my other TV, connected it to the projector, and HDR worked just fine. It's just the Xbox and the Projector
that can't talk and I'm not sure which component is at fault.

For background: The Xbox is connected directly to an HDCP 2.2 compatible port (HDMI 2) using the cable that came with the Xbox. The Sony projector doesn't have any specific setting to enable HDR support. You simply connect your component via the HDCP enabled
    port.

Sony TV KDL-32W660E and HDR Support

Same problem with the KDL-32WE613 My display has HDR and 10 bit output, works fine with Youtube and Netflix HDR content directly on the TV Apps and fine with
HDR games and HDR content on Netflix on my PS4 Pro, Xbox One S ticks HDR by default but says the TV does not support it even when it's forced on in with the HDR-Game or HDR-Cinema profiles.

According to Display Specifications that is not a real HDR display (not even 1080p but 720p too & 8-bit), yes it supports it but it is soft HDR, it does not have the hardware to actually display HDR and just uses some post processing techniques to try and
    simulate it.

    31.5" Sony KDL-32WE613 - Specifications

The XB1S does not support HDR at 1080/720p only 2160p-4K output. Ideally for a PS4 Pro and XB1S you should have a 4K 10-bit display.

I am having an HDR issue with my Vizio TV and when I reached out to Vizio support they said it was on the Xbox side. So any info here on HDR issues would be appreciated.

    Sony Receiver STR-HD790

When i connect the Xbox directly to my projector 4k HDR 60hz game play is supported and works. When I pass through the Sony receiver 4k HDR 60hz gameplay is not supported. The Xbox says going through a receiver may limit support. But, the PS4 and my gaming
PC support 4k HDR 60hz gameplay passing through the projector. Just seems strange that the Xbox doesnt support this receiver. Makes we worried about future Series X compatibility as well...

    Xbox One S doesn't recognise 4K compatibility on a 4K projector

Finally, I took my Xbox one s to my friend's house and connected it to a 4K OLED TV. And I can see the 4K and HDR signals working fine. I used the same HDMI cable that was connected to the 4K projector. But when connected back to the projector and selected
the option Allow 4K I see the message the TV doesn't support 4K. But Allow HDR is fine on the Projector. I don't know where the issue is. The projector seems to work fine with Apple TV 4K, Firestick 4K and nVidia Shield TV with 4K HDR signals. The issue seems
to be with the Xbox the way its detecting the signal on the TV.

You must turn on HDR support for each device via their own settings, it is not automatically enabled by the projector or the soundbar. They also do not use the same language so may call 10-bit HDR support something entirely different.
