HDR not activating for Panasonic TX-58DX802B in Xbox one S

Hi all, I have another case of HDR not working with my Panny TX-58DX802B. Specifically, I get green checkboxes on Thit TV supports HDR video and gaming, on Xbox settings, but I don't get HDR output when playing NBA2K17 or through Netflix HDR shows
    like Marco Polo.

I contacted Panasonic tech support and they replied:

Regarding your query about your Panasonic product, I would like to inform you that from the information that we have at the moment the Xbox One S sends out HDR in 10 bit colour. This model does not support 10 bit colour, it supports 8 bit. This is the reason
    why this does not work.

I would ask you to contact Microsoft for further details in regards to the Xbox One S specifications.

the TV is advertised as HDR and its Netflix and Amazon video apps output HDR just fine in HDR supported shows. Help, anyone? I specifically bought the Xbox to use it as a 4K / HDR Bluray player, and its core function for me is MIA.

    :)

Looking for a 4K tv to work with Xbox one s

here's a Panasonic 4K TV option from Amazon UK... it says HDR support also but I think the Panasonic don't offer HDR via "game mode"

Xbox one S with Panasonic DX780 no HDR

Hi guys I have an Xbox One S plugged with the Panasonic DX780 TV.

My question is very simple: Do you know if this TV is compatibile with HDR gaming?

I have Forza Horizon 3 and the HDR slider doesn't appear, so this means that HDR is not working.

I bought this TV because DF suggested in a review as one of best TV HDR for Xbox One S.. But obviously this is not true.

Any suggestion? Anybody has the same TV? Any fix coming?

  5. Hello,

For you to fully appreciate HDR10 via ONE S, you would need a TV with 10bit panel. Otherwise, the hdr support is limited and the console may not recognize it. As you go through the video settings, check to see if your console is connected via hdmi 2.0a for
    hdr.

Check to see if it allows HDR on your TV by checking the advanced settings on the console with a check beside the box that says "Allow HDR"

I personally have an 8bit panel as well and I know that it is not true HDR10 as it requires a 10bit panel. This information is also on the AVforums.

  6. Hey there Sigalakos,

We'd recommend going through this guide for troubleshooting at 4K or HDR related issues you may be having with the TV.

Troubleshoot 4K and HDR on Xbox One S

It's very likely since the TV doesn't support 10 bit, that the TV will be able to take full advantage of the HDR capabilities of Xbox One S. That guide will be best to help you confirm this though.

Hi all. Thanks for your help. To close the loop in that one in case other Panasonic owners are facing the same issue:

I was able to activate HDR on my TV finally after playing around some more with my TV's settings. Apparently it's not enough to set HDMI HDR Setting to On. You must also change the HDMI Auto Setting in Setup to "Mode 2" (default is Mode 1). So to recap:

HDMI HDR Setting (on the HDMI port the Xbox is connected) - Set to "On"

HDMI Auto Setup (on the HDMI port the Xbox is connected) - Set to "Mode 2"

HDCP Setting - set to "Auto"

Hope that proves helpful to any other Panny owners out there.

Awesome, thanks so much for this. My panasonic tv was getting some of the ticks but not everything. After doing the below setting change I now get all the ticks.

    Thanks again.
