  1. HDR issue on Xbox One X

I have recently upgraded my 4K TV to a HDR model and have noticed something strange.

Everytime I record something whether its 30 seconds long or 1 hour long, in the recent captures list, the preview is grayed out. While it's fine when you open one of these recordings on the list and looks great, it's when you transfer it to your OneDrive,
PC or to YouTube is when the issue happens.

If I turn off the HDR option on my Xbox One X, everything works great, but once the option is back on, the issue returns. Its not an issue with my TV due to my PS4 PRO working fine with HDR etc... I was told by someone from Windows Central that its how Microsoft
have dealt with how the information is stored. The HDR information for every video/image is stored separately. This can be rectified by an update from the Xbox team, if the files where automatically merged upon uploading, but nothing has happened yet.

The reason for me posting here was to see if anyone else has this issue? If you are unsure, try to recreate the issue I am having. Like I mentioned earlier, its fine when looking at it through the Xbox console itself. It's when you are moving it over to
your PC for YouTube or for editing etc... is when it goes all washed out looking.

I would love for the Xbox Team to maybe turn the option off when files are being uploaded, so this wouldn't be a problem any more, or even release an update to resolve this. At the moment, I'm forced to turn off HDR on my X, just so I can record some gameplay
    and take screenshots etc..

I hope someone from support or the development team see this and can help out.

Thank you for taking the time to read this long post, but I feel that it is something that should be resolved, as maybe some are unware of this issue.

    :)

A HDR game list for Xbox One S?

Erm........................You do realise that any game that runs on the Xbox One X also runs on the Xbox One S? And because of this, any game that is HDR on the Xbox One X is also HDR on the Xbox One S.

So basically, any game you find that is HDR on the Xbox One X is also HDR on the Xbox One S

A HDR game list for Xbox One S?

    Is that official?

HDR is an "Xbox One X Enhanced" feature for those games, that's official words.

For example Rise of the Tomb Raider, NO HDR on Xbox One S.

HDR issue on Xbox One X

    Hello Spitfire Spud

When your playing a HDR compatible games it will change your TV setting over to HDR Colour Settings automatically, So when your viewing your HDR recorded videos your TV is set to SDR that is why your seeing it grey.

  6. I'm not sure if you read my entire post. It shows up in HDR fine on my TV when I play it back through the Xbox One X, it's just the preview on the capture list that is grey.... There is an option to choose between SDR and HDR when you are viewing your images/videos...

The issue is when you are uploading it to YouTube or over to your PC and wanting to create content via software like Vegas Pro or PowerDirector. It's an issue with Microsoft/Xbox and how they store the HDR information separately...
on my PS4 PRO it works fine as Sony doesn't treat the files in the same manner as Microsoft/Xbox does.

    HDR Gaming Equality?

I'm with the understanding that all Xbox One games that support HDR will have HDR on the S. HDR is not limited to just the Xbox One X Enhanced games.

My tv supports HDR10, it works on my ps4pro, but the option is greyed out on my xbox one x....

    Hi,

Not all TV's support HDR on all HDMI connections.

On my Sony Bravia 4K TV, only two out of the four support HDR even though they all support 4K resolution.
    ^

This could very well be the issue,

I have a Samsung 4K HDR TV, with 4 HDMI 2.0 ports, but only one of my port's supports HDR, ( HDMI 1 ),

If i want to use to my PS4pro with HDR, i have it in HDMI 1, but then if i want to use my Xbox One X with HDR, i have to swap my HDMI cable's around, so that my Xbox One X is now in HDMI 1,

Best check the TV's manual to find out which HDMI port uses HDR,

Or try connect the Xbox One X into the HDMI port where you're PS4pro is, and see if HDR then works.
