I have a 4K HDTV, 4K blu rays look amazing and games look great too. Is HDR worth buying another tv? Everything I've read seems to point to yes. Hoping for a consumer opinion. Thanks

Standard Xbox on 4K HDR TV

    Hi all,

I have a standard Xbox One and am thinking of buying a 4K HDR TV and was wondering if I would notice much of a difference in the picture? I currently have a 1080 HD TV. Is it worth buying one?

HDR is worth buying a new tv?

I have not got a 4K yet but have been looking at them and have seen a some that I really like the look of but when I dig further I think it is a better option to wait for the 2017 models to be announced in January at CES.

  6. I would suggest actually going to a store for a physical comparison between 4K TVs with and without HDR, without any influence from a sales rep. Online articles can only tell you so much with charts and colorful adjectives, and salespeople in the store are
just nodding yes-men that want you walk out of the store with an expensive purchase.

I've seen HDR through my experiences with window shopping, and it does indeed look nice. HDR does help colors in the image become more vivid and "pop out" at you, but whether or not you'd want to spend the extra money to upgrade specifically for this feature
    is entirely your own prerogative.

If you truly like HDR and you have the money to splurge, then by all means go for it. However, I'd want to warn you that there's still limited selections of content (movies, games) that natively support HDR, since this technology is still in its infancy,
much like 4K itself. That should be the main deciding factor if you want to take advantage of HDR in the first place, because you aren't going to be watching that fancy stock 4K footage they show in the store all day.

I personally only have a 1080p HDTV right now, but I know my next TV is going to be 4K with HDR... that is when I eventually feel like blowing a grand or two on a new
    thing for the house.

This a quote from the (basically) A/V expert at Polygon

"Right now, there are only two TVs I would feel comfortable advising someone who plays games and wants a 4K/HDR display to buy: the Samsung KS8000 or the 2016 Vizio P-Series. Of the two, the Samsung is the better display,
but the Vizio is slightly cheaper. Almost every other 4K/HDR TV out right now feels like an enormous compromise at best, and a giant waste of money at worst."

HDR is worth buying a new tv?

It's a matter of personal opinion. I didn't think 4k alone was worth the upgrade from 1080p. I didn't notice enough of a difference. However with the addition of HDR the difference is a bit more noticeable and I am considering an update. Even though the
XB1 S only supports HDR10 I am looking at TV that support both HDR10 and Dolby Vision with the hopes of future proofing this investment.

If you are looking to get the full benefit of your system. I would recommend upgrading to a 4k television/display ; But if your whole system doesn't support it; or you don't utilize 4k/UHD content then I wouldn't recommend it.

depending on what kind of tv and how costly it is is a factor. If you plan on buying a lot of 4k blu-ray movies, then go for it as soon as you find a good deal. Otherwise it would be wise to wait because honestly there isn't enough content to watch or even
play in HDR. Im saying from personal experience as I bought an LG OLED B6p tv during black friday. The tv is fantastic but not cheap. Everything and I mean everything looks better on it. But there is very little HDR content to watch. Even the dolby vision
4k movies you can stream on Netflix and vudu are very limited. And of course if you have a home theatre setup and don't have a 4k pass through av receiver, that's another expense especially considering now the xbox one can Bitstream losseless audio from blu-ray
discs if you are in the insider preview program.

HDR is worth buying a new tv?

I just got a 4K TV. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01EKZOHAO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The picture is great but to me when playing a game there is slight lag when moving. Like with Gears of War 4 when I try to sniper there's a slight
delay in movement. So I either don't move when I want to or it moves to far when lining up for the headshot.
