HDR Flickering Screen Tearing Xbox One X on LG OLED E9

Hi all,

I just purchased a new 2019 LG OLED E9. Everything seemed to be fine until I got into the game and the screen just started tearing, flickering and becoming scattered. The issue happens as soon as the TV recognizes an HDR game or source and the HDR icon pops
up in the top right corner. I do not have any of these issues in Netflix or other apps or on the TV itself using a variety of Dolby content.

I have tried going through all of the posts on this subject, turning off a variety of settings and I am completely stuck. I am using the original XBOX one X cable. Also tried the Amazon high speed cable - still no luck. Xbox settings are showing all green
check marks down the board - which should be the case with this TV from the specs as far as I understand.

What works:

1) Turning off HDMI LG “Deep Color” setting on the HDMI port I’m using - but then this turns off HDR so it doesn’t solve my problem

2) Turning off HDR 10 in the Xbox Setting (again, then the HDR isn’t enabled so this doesn’t help)

HDR also does not work even if I change refresh rates, lower resolution down to 1080p, or get rid of any other settings. For example removing VRR and keeping HDR enabled, I still have the same issue. Using the Xbox settings, I’ve basically tried checking
or unchecking every option, but the screen goes wild everytime. It is not a snowflake issue nor black screen, but one where the screen semiflickers, tears, and lags (i.e. I try to go to a menu and it pops back and forth between screens). It stops this immediately
if I go back to the menu screen of xbox (where I assume the HDR turns off).

The only solution I read about was that Microsoft replaced someones xbox - but again, would love to find an alternative idea if anyone has one before I go to an extreme.

I’ve spent about 3 hours on this - and still have not made any progress. Thanks ahead of time for any ideas

And I’ll try with my laptop. I have a gaming laptop so I should be able to make that work.

Perhaps you could make a small video and upload it to YouTube so we can see the issue? Just make the video private, that way the only people who will be able to see it are the ones that click on the URL here.

Also, what is the exact model of your TV and its size. Thanks.

Do you have a laptop with an HDMI out? If the computer has at least a 7th generation Intel processor or dedicated graphics hardware, you can also use this to test out the HDR features of your TV. It's worth a try. You've already determined that HDR works
internally for the Smart TV, but does it work over HDMI?

Is there a auto detect feature that is adjusting to the hdr? It could be having trouble swapping automatically. Try turning off auto detection if it is in the settings.
