  1. HDR doesn't seem to turn "off" after closing a game

So I'm playing the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and notice after a session the dashboard color is extremely brighter. I've noticed this a few times with past HDR games but this seems to happen more frequently with Crash. If I just cycle through my inputs
and come back to the Xbox everything is back to normal. This is on a XBox One X with an Element Roku 4K that I bought earlier this year. I know Elements are cheap displays but I've had pretty good success with them in the past even though they do have some
quirks (which is why I'm wondering if this is one of those quirks or something with the XBox).

    :)

    4k Image Issues (Vizio Du50)

Haha I think they're as perplexed as we are! You might have a point about HDR being an issue in this because Vizio we're talking about doesn't necessarily have HDR but it does have a yellow check mark & says "HDR for games & apps is turned off. To turn it
on, back up & select Allow HDR." Here's the thing though, it's greyed out. Not that it had the ability to begin with but something definite seems to be up with that.

  3. Forza Horizon 3 HDR issue after patch

I am still having HDR issues with this game. I can not create a vinyl group unless I turn off HDR in my Xbox settings. If I do not turn HDR off, the pattern I choose is invisible regardless of color and regardless of the background I am using. Also, with
HDR off, the brightness tab does not work.

Why is HDR not working on my new XBox Series X

Unlike the PS5, the Xbox dashboard is displayed in SDR, which is why HDR turns off when you close down the HDR calibration tool.

Xbox Series S dim upon boot up, how to fix?

Hi Francia, thank you for the suggestion. After following your instructions on turning off the Auto-HDR and restarting my Xbox, it still seems like the problem continues.

Issues with Vizio M65-d0 and Xbox One S; screen turns white.

Turning off HDR seems to be the solve, but that defeats the point of having HDR and largely 4K. Someone needs to fix it or provide refunds.

Gigabyte M27Q monitor and Xbox Series - Black Home screen

    Hi,

What happens if you turn off both allow 4K and the HDR setting? (turning off Allow 4K should turn of HDR anyway).

When your playing games in HDR and go back to the dashboard there will be a momentary pause or black screen. This is normal as the Xbox dashboard operates in SDR and both the monitor and the Xbox should switch back to SDR.

I'm just curios to see if there is an issue with switching between HDR and SDR on this monitor.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, the M27Q is an older HDMI 2.0 display and that can be bandwidth limited. Besides, this is only an HDR 400 display which means it doesn't get bright enough for HDR to really stand out. Decent HDR needs HDR 600 or more to actually make much of a difference together with good local dimming.

Just because it can do HDR doesn't mean you need to have it on. On displays with poor HDR implementation having it on can actually make the picture worse.

Have you updated the monitors firmware?
