    I just bought a new hdmi cable and ran it theough the wall so I could mount my tv. When I olugged the hdmi into the tv and the xbox, it wasnt recognized. I didnt want to run the xbox hdmi bc I wanted to use it for another room. Now I have to use it in
    this room. I thought any hdmi cable would work. What am I missing? The new hdmi does work with my tv.

    Xbox 360 and HDMI

    How are you displaying your Xbox 360 - with or without an HDMI cable? We just bought a new TV today (yay! lol) and since it's HDMI capable, we bought an HDMI cable and hooked the Xbox 360 up with it. Man, does it make a WORLD of difference!

    HDMI splitter on XB1

    do what I did

    I put the HDMI switch after my A/V receiver

    so HDMI from XB1 to input of A/V receiver. Output of A/V receiver to input of HDMI switch. 1st output of HDMI switch to TV, 2nd output of HDMI switch to projector. gives full audio and now you have options for either TV or projector for everything that is connected to your A/V receiver

    Are you sure you plugged it in the right port?

    is the TV 4K? Are you sure the HDMI cable is 4K Compatible in this case?

    Please check those things and let us know HDMI :)

    Remember not all hdmi cables are created equal

    If they arent gold plated or hdmi 1.4 then you wont get 4k

    I feel I need to correct some information here.

    HDMI cables don't need to be 'gold plated to support 4K

    There're no such thing as 1.4 HDMI cable or 2.0 cable.

    HDMI cables are dumb, they don't have versions, only the interface has versions.

    Basically, any HDMI cable - even the dirt cheap ones -should be good enough for 4K60. The Xbox One X HDMI isn't gold plated.

    4K HDMI cables are nonsense

    The One has two HDMI ports: "HDMI In" and "HDMI Out".

    Cable box plugs into "HDMI In"

    Tv plugs into "HDMI Out"

    Do you have the hdmi cable plugged in to the right hdmi port on your console? Ot has two hdmi ports. One for hdmi in and one for hdmi out. Make sure your hdmi cable is plugged in to the hdmi out port(the one closest to the power brick) and run that into
    the tv.

    Check to make sure the HDMI cable is completely plugged in. Make sure the HDMI cable is plugged into the ‘HDMI In’ port instead of the ‘HDMI Out’ port. It is also possible that the HDMI cable may be faulty, consider purchasing a replacement HDMI cable.

    This makes perfect sense.

    HDMI to HDMI is not the same as HDMI to optical

    its why HDMI cables and HDMI recievers were created with complex DaC's that also support optical, coax, etc.

    No,as long as the HDMI port on the back of your cable box is "HDMI Out", you will be fine. You get a HDMI cord to go from cable box to xbox HDMI IN port , and a HDMI cord to go from xbox HDMI Out Port to tv.
