I have a DENON AVRX3000 with three speakers
(but I will get another 4 and a subwoofer in the future though), what is better? Optical or HDMI? And also, I don't know if my gamerpic and/or gamerscore is showing to you, because I can't see it on my screen, why is
    that?

    :)

Here at college without a cable box and just have a coax cable from the wall...

Unfortunately, nothing at all. The XBOX ONE has gone all digital with its inputs and only supports HDMI video and Optical audio.

    HDMI vs optical digital audio.

    1) It's a personal preference. I go with HDMI, because it is less cords I have to worry about.

    2) The forums can be screwy. That is why your gamercard isn't showing.

  5. Hey there,

HDMI has a much higher audio bandwidth than optical. HDMI is capable of transmitting uncompressed 5.1 and 7.1 surround, basically sending the sound for each speaker separately. Optical however can only deliver compressed surround, so basically the console
has to compress the audio, then the receiver will have to decompress it the other end.

So if you have the option, use HDMI and set your console to uncompressed 5.1/7.1 rather than Dolby or DTS and Dolby and DTS are both compression methods for surround.

Connecting digital stereo headphones to Xbox 360 elite

You have an older Xbox 360 model (pre May 2010), so there will not be a digital optical output built directly into your Xbox 360 that you will need in order to connect your surround stereo headset.

First, check to see if your TV has an digital optical output, often labeled 'S/PDIF'. If your TV has a digital optical output, you can plug the optical cable directly into this jack for game audio. Note: Check your TV manual to see if it supports Dolby Digital.

If your TV does not have a digital audio output, you will need to obtain the Audio Adapter Cable to work alongside the HDMI connection. The HDMI connection will send digital video and digital audio to your TV, while the Xbox 360 Audio Adapter will give you
the optical digital audio jack you need to connect from the Xbox 360 to your headset.

    Xbox Audio->Reciever

It doesn't matter. Both the HDMI audio output and the optical audio output provide the same audio signal. While one is optical and one is electrical, both are digital and contain the same information.

The only thing you should worry about is if the receiver introduces any latency in the HDMI video path.
