HDMI to DVI not working

    HI everyone.

I'm trying to connect my Xbox to a 1440p DVI monitor via HDMI to DVI. When I plug it in I get multiple pictures of my Xbox on the screen and its green and blurry with lines through it. I have tried all the usual things like resetting my picture mode, switching
to DVI through the settings and have bought different cables to try. It doesn't even register that i want to use 1440p.

    Has anyone else had this?

    Thanks

    :)

No picture and sound with HDMI.

I connect it directly to the TV with hdmi.

If I use it with my monitor, i plug in a HDMI to DVI-D converter and DVI-D to my monitor.

I tried it with different hdmi cables, still not working.

The VGA cable works for the xbox, but an HDMI to DVI cable is not supported by the system, hence no official xbox brand ones in existence.

You're getting this same error with the different cables? Shows a picture, but distorted? Do you have an opportunity to try a different monitor? That would help determine if we need to take a look at your settings on the display, or tweak something on
    the Xbox console.

The fact that you're getting the same display errors with multiple cables point to it not being the cables themselves, which is good to rule out as there could have been an issue with conversion or HDCP handshake.

    I'd recommend going through the
display troubleshooter here to see if it's an Xbox One configuration issue

Can you let us know what type (make/model) of display you're using and the connector brand?

    Thanks for the speedy reply.

Yes I have used different cables and i still get the same picture. I have tried connecting to a different display, although the monitor was quite old, but that is still the same too.

I read through the troubleshooter guide and have already tried the steps there.

My monitor is a Hazro HZ27WC and the cables i have used are High Speed Gold Plated HDMI to DVI but I'm not sure of the brand.

My HDMI to HDMI output to the TV works fine.

I have uploaded an image of the screen.

    Thanks in advance

    Hello JayC

Being that the monitor could be a older model, it could be that it is not HDCP compliant which is causing this. Also The firmware in the monitor could be that it doesn't support the connection you are trying to use. You could try reaching out to the manufacturer
and see if they can provide any information.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks

    PCM audio over HDMI

This doesn't seem to work. Something I've got wrong sorry, is it's actually outputting to DVI as I'm going from HDMI to a DVI monitor so it's detecting the DVI connection not the HDMI signal.

    DVI-D Monitor won't recognize Xbox 360?

DVI-D is digital only. The port needs to be DVI-I for an unpowered VGA to DVI adapter to function.

Try an HDMI to DVI cable. That should work.

    hdmi output greyed out

I just had the same problem. It was down to the tv output being set to dvi rather than hdmi. Dvi doesn't carry audio so would require an optical cable.

Go in to picture setup and change it from DVI to HDMI

    Hope it works

    Xbox One and VGA
@icestorm: ok, thanx. I also try a HDMI to DVI cable AND a DVI to VGA Adapter, so i get a HDMI to VGA.
That won't work.

DVI to VGA adapters are for use with DVI-I ports on video cards. The DVI standard provides for a version that has pins which carry VGA analog signals. DVI-I ports are pinned to provide that output. That's why HDMI to DVI to VGA doesn't work - the HDMI source
has no VGA analog signals to begin with.

For audio, you'll need a digital to analog audio adapter and the requisite cabling to connect the adapter to the Xbox One, as well as to whatever speakers you want to use. They're pretty easy to find on Amazon.
