    HDMI splitter for out

End result wanted is to be able to go out from XBox One to the tele in the other room just the other side of the wall.

Set up is hdmi to monitor to use xbox

Wanting to get a splitter for the out on the xbox

Essentially just to make it easier. I could each time reach behind the xbox, disconnect the hdmi to the monitor then plug in the hdmi to the tele

Being partially lazy and wanting the ease of being able to not "fiddle" with the connections each time, a splitter from the out, 1 hdmi to monitor 1 hdmi for the tele.

When wanting to like say use netflix and watch in the other room, plug the other hdmi into the tele, fire up netflix, get it on the tele and just not turn on the monitor by the xbox.

I'm just not sure if the pigtail or a powered switchbox type would be needed. The hdmi to the tele would stay connected to the splitter but only be plugged into the tele when in use. When not in use, still plugged into the splitter but the other end coiled
up and out of the way.

Biggest concern if if using either type of splitter if when the hdmi going to the tele wasn't plugged in if it would still transmit to the monitor for xbox use.

Anyone went that route or had experiance with it? It would just make it easier and less fiddling to not have to fire up netflix, disconnect the monitor, plug in the one for the tele.

    :)

Question about hdmi splitter and connecting through the cable box

You are actually using a HDMI switch, which is different from a splitter. You need a 1 in 2 out HDMI splitter. You will connect the HDMI from you cable/sat box to the splitter, then 1 HDMI from the splitter directly to your TV to watch like normal. Then
the other HDMI from the splitter to your Xbox one HDMI input, and another HDMI from Xbox one output to the TV. Check out the video like I posted for more info.

[/quote] Thanks for that video. J was going to do this, but was reading that Xfinity/Comcast boxes detect splitters as copying devices and the box locks out. Can you confirm your cable provider and cable box model? Also, how was your xb1 shutting off when you
    switched inputs?

Xbox One (Day One Edition) audio not working over HDMI

There may be an issue with your HDMI splitter. I would first try to bypass the splitter to see if you are getting any sound out of your device. Remove the HDMI splitter and use a direct connection between your xbox and the sound bar and/or TV to see if you
are getting any sound out. If you are getting sound to any of the external devices then the splitter is your culprit. Hope this helps. Cheers!
