    My Xbox 360 sound stopped working today, i played yesterday & all night then this morning no sound i tried using another hdmi cord, changing tv outputs then i changed my 360 audio from 5.1 to stereo then restarted & it worked again.
    i would like to know what causes this issue as my 360 has been set to 5.1 will be a year on november 6? i've read others saying the audio set to 5.1 causes this but that's not true if the audio stops almost 1 year of having that setting set. this issue needs
    to be fixed & i've had another 360 for over 10 years & never encountered this issue & this issue might be from a newer 360 update they released one a few weeks ago.

    Well, not sure what to tell you. There was a kind of buzzing sound, almost like the speakers were blown. Have had it on 5.1 sound since I set it up, and I'm not sure what happened. Some kind of glitch?

    It appears that the logic board responsible for HDMI audio is going on your system. Unfortunately there's nothing you can really do at this point. Your Xbox seems to be dying. You could, try using the other audio option on your console, but there's no guarantee
    that will work.

    So got mine to work... Somehow just going into the sound settings and changing the digital output from dolby digital 5.1 to stereo fixed it... Then I put it back to 5.1 and it the sound continued to work.... Weird, hope this doesn't keep happening.

    I'm just kicking myself for not trying this first, instead of immediately unplugging everything and rewiring and making a huge mess...

    Well, settings don't change automatically. Normally when you have 5.1 selected, only certain sounds don't play, unless your TV just doesn't support the format.

    Same thing happened to me today! I played not even 24 hours ago and everything worked fine! Tonight I tried to play and no sound... I tried a new HDMI cable and still nothing... Weird you had the same issue on the same day...
