HDMI sound keeps getting turned off on its own

I have an issue with my Xbox One and the HDMI sound setting. It keeps getting reset to "off" on its own. Issue is that I have HDMI set to "5.1". The next day, no sound comes out so I check settings and HDMI says "off". I try to set it back on and I get
the spinning circle (for lack of a better term) and nothing happens and it won't let me exit out of settings menu. So, I have to turn console off then on again and sound works (and when I check settings, it says HDMI on 5.1, which is where I want it), at
least until the next day when it does it again. When I go to settings, it says HDMI off, so I set it on, then spinning circle thing happens again, etc. It happens almost every day. This seemed to start occurring after the usual September update.

    Any help?

    :)

  3. Xbox one keeps turing off on its own

If your Xbox is shutting down because it is overheating, make sure that there is some adequate "breathing room" around the console and power supply so the internal fans in both devices will be able to circulate air.

Check if your power supply is connected directly to the wall outlet, and not behind a surge protector.

Read this troubleshooting article for more details.

Worst case scenario, you will need to get your console and/or power supply serviced by Microsoft. If that's the case,
    schedule a repair here.

Zinacef, Thanks for the suggestions. I did try those things and issue is still the same. Weird thing is that everything worked fine before the September update (or shortly thereafter). Maybe that is just a coincidence. Would a handshake issue cause
the system settings to revert back to "off"? I can understand it not getting a signal sometimes when turning on your receiver (my xbox is connected to a stereo receiver by hdmi), but I can't imagine that would cause the xbox to change it's settings, otherwise
every person who has theirs connected to a receiver or a TV would get this issue. BTW, it did the issue again today.

    Any other advice?

Okay, I think I solved my issue. For some reason, both HDMI sound and optical sound were set to "on" in the settings menu. Once I turned optical to "off", the issue went away. Not sure how it got set to "on" in the first place, but I think it happened
when the console did the September update.

Also have this issue. When I turn HDMI sound off, and bitstream/Dolby on, I get no sound whatsoever despite my optical audio cable being installed.
